The AD BAR directly beneath 1st Post in MY threads is DEEPLY OFFENSIVE!

The advertising bar directly beneath the lead post is not only intrusive it's offensive. When the thread is my own, it makes me feel like a billboard — cheap, and worse, cannot help but look like it is an extension of my speech!

Please restore it to the top of the page, in its ethically-correct position, along with the other commercial links. I understand your motive; nonetheless, this is deeply offensive to me.

i cant decide if youre being serious, or just a drama queen (no offense)

yea.. most people wont like it.. but youre going to see that more and more on the larger forums around the new
if people would click the ads more while they are at the top.. and use the affiliate links when making purchases, it wouldnt be necessary to try and *sneak* them into the thread

I don't think you're understanding me: This is OFFENSIVE to me.

Alright? I'm not trying to be a drama queen; but I will not tolerate the imposition of commercial links appearing directly above or below my posts.

If Fat Wallet can maintain a vibrant forum without doing this, then Mr. Kleinman needs to explore other means of increasing his revenue other than associating its commercial motive with my speech.

You still don't appreciate how offensive this is to me?
I'm being a "drama queen"?
Hysterical?
He has every right to generate revenue in every way he can?

Yes, Mr. Kleinman can do whatever he wishes with his website — including instituting a mandatory subscription service.

The problem is that I won't participate in this forum on anything even remotely on the level that I have heretofore, when the format inserts commercial activity directly next to my speech — giving the appearance of associating my speech with this activity.

I don't like it. And I don't like it so much that I will probably only show up here when I need to grab a CH code. And then leave for another two years.

If I need a DDD code I can get it at FW.

Sorry to be so brutal, but my speech is very dear to me (I'm a writer) and I take this stuff very seriously.

Scotty, those are Fat Cash links — that's very different! Fat Cash directly benefits the user.

But even if it didn't, I do not want to see a 3rd Party Commercial Entity being advertised anywhere near my speech. And Fat Cash is not (mercifully) that.

Look, if this doesn't offend you, I respect your standards.
Perhaps mine are too narrow for this forum.
In which case I will vote with my mouse, and leave.

But I would like Mr. Kleinman to respond first. And I invite him to email me (he has my email) for a thoughtful, polite exchange of views. There are other ways of generating revenue than compromising individual speech.

Sincerely,
MISS PEACH

I personally use fat cash regularly, but I find the links under the first post in a thread at FW equally intrusive regardless (I mostly gave up hope on FW a long time ago... now mainly lurking when I visit there) but my hope is that they are not here to stay... I'll patiently wait and see...

too late

truth me told.. noone would be happy if those ads stay..

but the big thing is this... Geoff just rolled out new software last night
there will be ALOT of tweaking still.. which is why we have threads for suggestions.. Its not really fair to him to assume that anything is permament..

so before you blow a gasket.. just calm down.. and post your concerns in a sensible fashion along with everyone else..

Im sure Geoff had a long night and when he comes in.. he will go over the suggestions and start considering what modifications to make..

we dont know if he implemented alot of features on purpose.. or if they were just defaults with the install..

btw..
FW turns all your posts into advertisements by making almost every word you type into an affiliate hotlink... that doesnt annoy you?

To whom is it giving that appearance? People who haven't read any other threads and don't see that this is done to everyone's posts?

"Say, I just bought that new penis cream that's guaranteed to add 2-3 inches!"
"What??? Aren't those things a scam?"
"I used to think so, too, but then I saw MISS PEACH advertising it!"

Exactly. And while complaining about the ads, you go and put an ad right after your first post in the thread. A bit hypocritical if you ask me....

I agree that they are annoying as hell, but calling them offensive is a bit much. Geoff, why not do those vertical banner ads on the sides of the page where there is penty of white space?

Peach, I think you are being way too serious about this. There is a CLEAR break between your post and the ad bar. Furthermore, this is a PRIVATE forum, and your clear implications of using constitutional protections against infringements on your speech are misplaced, and IMHO very silly.

Seems to me if you felt as serious about this as you did, you wouldn't leave, but stay and try and advocate a change. From reading your posts, you seem to be allowing the very thing offending you most by leaving. That is a most curious response.

IF you aren't happy, leave. I don't understand how this can be personally offensive to you. Can anybody tell me how to activate quick reply?

Lower right-hand corner of each post, button with paper and feather. I've sent Geoff info on how to disable that extra step but I'm sure he's either busy or napping right now.

Geoff just posted this in another thread:

The issues which have been brought up so far:

1) The blue bars between posts are too dark. - That can be fixed
2) The last post title of adult is showing up on front page - I'll see what I can do to address that
3) Links/underlines are showing clearly - I'll see what we can do
4) Make it so quick reply does require another click - FIXED
5) Min post legnth is too long - FIXED
6) Ads under first post - It's something we're testing so bear with us
Hope is on the way Miss Peach!

Geoff fixed it so you can quick reply without having to take that extra step.

Unfortunatly, I disagree with you. While the ads are annoying, the are clearly demarcated from your post. Think of it as an annoying trolling coming in and posting a reply right after your post. No one would associate that troll's post with yours and no one thinks that you approve of the ad. I think you are making a moutain out of a mole-hill.

I agree with miss Peach. The sponsor links are absolutely awful. Move them up to where they were, nowhere near the thread.
