I rely on the missions to provide funds pretty much, and ever since I read about cabs I use them exclusively to get to and from missions.

And if it's not obvious already, I haven't played much GTA in the past. How the heck do you get hookers to get into your car?

You just need to honk when you're next to them.

Stop and honk. If she runs away it's just a skantily-clad chick.

Also, if you spook them (by getting too close with your car, shooting your gun, whatever) they won't get in either.

Was a on a mission last night where I had to chase a guy. End up chasing him and shooting his car up and I must have hit him in the process since he was driving pretty erraticly. (sp?) Anyways, the funny part is, my car was totaled and wouldn't run anymore. As soon as I step out of the car, the villian floors it and crushes me against my car. Mission Failed!

I was ticked but I had a good laugh.

There is a certain mission that should be coming up shortly that will greatly increase your funds. It sounds like you are somewhat close to the mission.

Yeah, I just did that one, died right at the end the first time through, doh! Definitely a nice pay day.

So is there a standard charge for dying and being respawned at a hospital? When I was trying to jump out onto the "Statue Of Happiness" from my chopper, I died like 12 times in a row, and I realized I was down a substantial chunk of change.

I think the Hospital does charge you.

I've been pretty busy with the game but here are some comments/questions:


I wonder who made the boneheaded decision to make high speed chases have a certain time you have to chase them before you can kill them. I wanted to sock the game in the face after unloading several clips into a motorcycle and then watching the bastard drive away with miracle driving skills.


Also is it just me or are the cops a lot crappier in this game? It seems like I can outrun just about any cops with extreme ease where in the old games they would ram your car until it blew up.


I seem to remember (or maybe I just made it up) that you were supposed to be able to climb poles, streetlights, and such. I believe one of the developers even said the game was gonna be very "vertical". What happened with that?

I was shocked by the amount of money you earned.

Extremely fun ..and it will probably remind you of a certain movie .....

It is a percentage charge based on how much money you have. Near the beginning of the game I recall it being fairly low, a couple hundred dollars or so. At one point when I had about $310K they took a few thousand dollars so I just reloaded my last save point. I haven't figured out the rate.
