I'm the same way. I bought the Batman Anthology and promptly put Batman & Robin on ebay.

Of all of my DVD buying compulsions, this is not one of them. If a movie has a theatrical and unrated version -- and there's a big difference between the films and/or different features (a la LOTR, Saw, etc) -- then I might do that...

With movies, no I will only buy the movies in the series that I like (hense no Jason Goes To Hell or Jason X), and I own Predator 2 but not the first.

With TV shows however, I always end up buying the entire series, but that's never really a problem since I like a show till the series finale. Even if the season was weak, It's still a chunk of the story arc and there would be at least a couple good episodes.

I want to have all the films in a series up to the point I don't like them anymore. Even if a stinker is between two good ones I'll have it(Star Trek V).

I usually complete any anime series I start to collect. If I lose interest with a show, I tend to just sell whatever volumes I collected at that point, and move on to something else.

I used to be somewhat of a completist, but I'm much better about it now. After purchasing the "Halloween: Resurrection" DVD, I finally woke up and realized just how insanely idiotic it really was to buy films that I don't even care for. This is pretty much along the same lines as those who purchase Criterions solely for the spine numbers. Let's face facts here, the odds of any particular person liking every single Criterion release is about a billion to one! But hey, if being a completest is what brings you joy, then by all means go for it! And I'm not judging anyone, BTW.

I enjoyed it and proud to say it's a part of my collection. If you look at it from the perspective that it's NOT a Halloween film, it's that much more enjoyable, IMO.

I'm the same way. Movies I'll buy only the movie I like in a series.

But, TV shows I like to own the entire run. It really irritates me when they release only half a season. Then later release the second half of the season.

Even then, I would rather have the entire series released at the one time.
