Yeah, I know, I know...That's for security purposes!

SON OF A...

Well, wouldn't ya know it???

Treesa had a Doctor's appointment this morning, and the UPS guy came and left and won't be back to redeliver that refurbished ol' piece of cork UNTIL TOMORROW... &

Oh! I was reading a thread (at another forum) where a couple guys who also ordered theirs from Overstock, and they said theirs came in GLOWING WITH BEAUTY and without a scratch, but one of the guys said his was delivered WITH NO FEET!!!

Can ya believe that?

NO FEET??? Oh, Man!

(I wonder what mine's gonna be missing... )

...anyway, looks like it's gonna be another sleepless night for me.

That happened on the Simpsons once. Apparently you can just call Vincent Price and he'll clear up the matter.

I know it's not '12%', but it's better than nothin'!

Congrats that is a great price! I have ordered refubished equipment from them in the past and the stuff I ordered is still in 100% working condition and it has been years since I purchased it. Again an overall excellent price for an awsome piece of home theatre gear. Good purchase!

bb: (Poor Vinny. R.I.P. 'EggHead'. )

WOW & Thanks, PS!

Glad to hear, nice to know and all that, but we'll see for sure...HOPEFULLY tomorrow!

"Tomorrow" sounds so far away...

Good Gawd! I can hardly take it anymore! I mean, all this waiting is tearing me apart!

I kinda feel like this: & this: at the same time!

I could get pneumonia or something from all this (((shock))) to my system. Who knows, I might even need some serious HD counseling when it's all over!

No smilie was harmed during the making of this post.

Well, I FINALLY got it!

It works and I'm happy.

(I'd say more but I don't want to depress anyone. )

But if you MUST know...

Spoiler:
Well, it FINALLY arrived, and I've got my very own Factory-Refurbed XA1!!!

Let me tell ya, it was HELL getting it delivered, but it was finally home!

I was instantly pleased to see that it came in an authentic TOSHIBA REFURBISHED ITEM box, and that started to ease a portion of my stress and anxiety. As I opened the box and slowly lifted off the blue plastic covered foam insert, a tear uncontrollably popped out of my eye, as I saw (for the very first time) the reality of my Toshibonic dreams coming true with my very own eyes!

I grabbed the bag of accessories (glad to see they were ALL there), picked out the remote, put in just '2' batteries (It works with just 2 batteries like the A1 remote if ya didn't know), and WOW! It lit up immediately! The thing I disliked the most about the A1 remote, was that I couldn't see what button did what! But now, it's bright enough and lights up just by touching it!

I put it down and proceeded to lift out the XA1 and gently placed it on a nearby table.

It was sealed in near clear plastic, and I could easily see through it, and it looked dusty (like powder, or maybe even cocaine?) and here was a inch & a half long scratch on the top of the unit (on the left near the front), where someone attempted to touch it up using a black sharpie (I presume). There was another smaller scratch on the opposite top right (looks like where someone had placed another piece of equipment on top of the player), and then I noticed yet another couple of smaller (very tiny) scratches on the front door (that's made of brushed aluminum or what have you) right near the power button.

I didn't hesitate to search the entire unit for any other imperfections, but I'm glad to report, there were no other physical defects. I grabbed one of my MAGIC yellow micro fiber towels (and if ya haven't tried or used one of these yet, you seriously owe it to yourself...they're available at Costco, BTW...), and I started to rub and buff that sucker and believe it or not, it cleaned up so incredibly well, some of the scratches disappeared! The tiny ones on the door are gone! Now it's so utterly beautiful (remaining scar on top of it's head, and all), I've decided to keep it.

...but does it work? (I asked myself.)

I plugged it in and pressed the power button, and it actually came on! ( )

Now for the firmware upgrade.

It took a dozen attempts, and after finally getting up to like 95%, I got the dreaded 'error' message (yet again...), but when I tried to reinstall it, it said, 'Update already installed...Exiting update'! (Thank Gawd! )

Hey! This thing is a PC for Pete's sake! I can live with whatever little delays there may be for the INCREDIBLE picture. I turn it on and leave it on so it'll be all 'booted up' and ready when I need it. (I only wish the horizontal blue light on the front would work like a 'progress bar' to let me know it's processing properly! )

I've been playing with it for the past few hours, and all in all, it's working just fine. (As well as my brand new A1.)

I told Treesa that the scratch really sucks, and she (seeing that I was disappointed) asked me if I would have seen this one...let's say, at a neighborhood Best Buy for example, open box, at the price I paid (which was a grand total of $440.30, including tax, license, and shipping), would I have bought it? And after a few moments of pondering the question, I told her, sure I would have, without a doubt I would have, and that settled that!

(Especially when adding up the cost of shipping it back...)

Besides, it's in the rack under my DVD recorder and the feet from that unit covers up the scratch so I don't have to see it.

UPDATE: It's been a few days, it's working beautifully, and I am most pleased!
