Re: Last DVD you watched?

Agreed.

First time viewed and wow! It has everything one could ask for in a WIP film ..including a script! And the cast was top notch (in both selection and performance)..

Re: Last DVD you watched?

A.I. Artificial Intelligence - a very good blockbuster-ish thought provoking science fiction drama. Just wish there was a significantly improved Blu-ray or DVD transfer floating around.

Re: Last DVD you watched?

Terminator Salvation

Enjoyed the Marcus arc and a few of the set pieces, but the rest of the film is rather meh...

Re: Last DVD you watched?

Star Trek (2009) - although not the same effect on a 27" screen as a theater, I still loved it as much as I did in the theater (lens flare issues aside).

Gantz - Season 1 - I have my problems with...

Re: Last DVD you watched?

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen.

Meh.. T1 was a more intense film, but despite Revenge's flaws it was still fun even if it was goofy. The final showdown was great and I liked the inclusion...

Re: Last DVD you watched?

Blood: The Last Vampire (live action):down:

I had many problems with it, American sentimentality and erratic action sequences (think Bourne series amplified by ten). Poor editing and...

Re: Last DVD you watched?

R-Point

Not perfect, but succeeds at creating an eerie supernatural build up with some decent scares and creepy settings. Good stuff.

Black Devil Doll

Absolute travesty of a film. Dialogue...

Re: Last DVD you watched?

:up::up:

Arguably the most beautifully dark and complex revenge film ever put out by Korea.

Wall-E - 2008

Bugs, Cars, Fish now Robots. Don't know why I always hesitate watching a Pixar film but when I finally get around to it I'm always amazed by what that studio does.

Simply...

Re: Last DVD you watched?

Yes, it's still OOP. I have a DVDR at the moment, but I went ahead and placed an order for the UK release which contains the original theatrical soundtrack by the Eurythmics. The US release does...

Re: Last DVD you watched?

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

Enjoyed the first but hated the second. Went into this one with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Not a great film, but competent and fun with some...

Re: Last DVD you watched?

Funny Games (1997) - Haneke

Family gets abducted and toyed with. Some truly painfully drawn out scenes and a high sense of realism behind this one. Strange that this is actually an anti-violence...

Re: Last DVD you watched?

Virus (1980) - Kinji Fukasaku [director of Battle Royale] - very good end of the world film. I'd take 1 of a film like this over 100 The Day After Tomorrow films any time.

Re: Last DVD you watched?

Bourne Ultimatum

Love the tie in to the of Supremacy, hate the frenetic zoom happy camera work. Fun espionage thriller with some rather tense moments. Good stuff.

Re: Last DVD you watched?

Romero's Land of the Dead.

Talking about it with a friend recently and I recalled hating this one the first time I watched it. Still pretty goofy - zombies with the ability to learn. Aside from...
