Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

On the plus side for Red Dead, travel aside there weren't any maddening missions that were annoying to complete like I feel like I normally encounter in GTA. Not flying a plane helps.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

Finally finished

Overall I'd say I still enjoyed the game. As annoying as the controls, movement, and slow pace of the game are, the world and story are at least interesting enough to...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

I've done a lof of side missions, stranger missions, and some random encounters but it still doesn't mean there are times where i'd like to just get on with the main missions. But yeah, I imagine...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

Agreed with all of you, i'm still slowly making my way through this and on Chapter 6 but the travel in the game is enough of a put off that I haven't been playing it every night like other games. A...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

Yeah, i'm noticing that now towards the end of Chapter 5.

After the TB stuff, missions where Arthur talks about doing the right thing do feel more substantial.

Yellow dot versus grey/white...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

I don't think i'd have missed anything if I just ignored most of the side missions. Some of them result in some humorous situations and side characters, but nothing particularly amazing and really...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

I am still slowly plugging away at this and made it to Chapter 5 last night. On the bright side, I've gotten used to the controls and action so the big shootout missions haven't been too difficult,...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

In Chapter 2, one of the missions brings you to one in Valentine and should open them up.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

Well it says played for a reason, I imagine "played" means anyone who launched/signed in to the game on launch day. Not sure how Rockstar would know who "bought" the game if they hadn't actually...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

I'm just on Chapter 2 since I started playing later then most of you, but looks like i'm close to finishing most/all of the available missions in that chapter (maybe?). The travel and movement still...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

I just started over the weekend and only pass the first couple of missions, but the slow walking and horse riding is my biggest annoyance and part of the reason I never finished the first game. I'm...

Linky to Digital Foundry comparison, since a few people mentioned it - https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2018-red-dead-redemption-2-face-off

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

I wonder when reviewers actually got copies and it's a case of Rockstar trying to make sure everyone had enough time to play and complete the game.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

There's dozens of different positions each at varying skill levels, so it would vary wildly depending if you're an artist, animator, designer, software engineer, producer, etc and if you're an...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

Yeah, I'm confused and I guess I don't understand anymore because the point I thought you were trying to make before made more sense. It's fine if you think the story in games aren't anywhere close...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

Can't say I agree. Not that I consider them equivalent to a cinematic masterpiece or anything, but moments like the opening sequence of The Last of Us, the end twists to Bioshock/Bioshock Infinite,...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

To each their own, but I don't find this to be the case at all for me. There's plenty of games that I find their story to be their primary strength, elevating otherwise good to average gameplay to a...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

I love story based games, they make up the bulk of the type of games i'm interested in. My favorite games the last few years have basically been story driven, whether it be AAA games like...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

I'm anticipating this game getting 9's and 10's and people saying it's overrated :p

Looks like review embargo isn't up until October 25th early in the morning.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

If you buy the digital version of the game, you can start downloading it now so that it's ready to go on release day (or night, whenever Rockstar decides is the launch time). Since it's such a large...

Well, that's only for digital PS4 owners. More specifically:

For digital downloads, looks like its 88.56 GB on Xbox One and 89.2 GB on PS4.
