I agree 100% that there's no way it should've been as awful as it was when released. But they have released 3 patches in the 2 weeks and 1 day since it came out. I messed around with it a little...

Today's patch is an insane improvement. Climbing the window in front of Sainte-Chapelle would drop to less than 1 frame per second at times before. Now it's pretty smooth there, maybe a touch of slow...
