...And another thing is that my receiver runs extremely hot if it's been on for a while. It's the only HT I've owned, and it is a refurb, so I don't know if that's normal or not.

Sometimes you make compromises because you're in an apartment (neighbors) or the wife is sleeping.

Definitely will when I upgrade to a new HT. Probably don't wanna run the surround sound all the time though, so I'll have to get HDMI splitters or something. Mmm, fun!

My component cables aren't plugged in either. Just HDMI and the optical, and yet still if I ever switch inputs away from HDMI when the 360 is on, it will reboot when I come back when I come back to...

I believe you have to do both. I haven't really looked into it, but just read about it somewhere. You have to sever the component cables right at the source, not where they come out of the plastic...

I heard you can get around this by snipping the component cables off the A/V pack, but I didn't want to gimp it in case I need them later on down the road for something.

Yes. All you have to do is bust the big plastic casing off your component/composite cable. Then you should have room to hook up both the HDMI and the old A/V cable and just hook the audio up to...

Sounds like a video card problem to me. My first box did this a couple of times and eventually RROD'd. I don't know if that was a precursor or completely unrelated.
