IMO, this is 100% thanks to Zabka. I don't think this show would have survived past season 1 if it were more focused on Macchio.

Half way through S1. Now that Zabka has aged, all I can see when he's on screen is Kenny Johnson (Lem from Shield; Luca from SWAT).
