if you hold A during a game boot up it clears the cache, or one of the cache's apparently. And yeah, I meant game updates. Not that big of a deal.

Things crawl, epecially when pop up the guide, etc. I'll do the cache clear...or do you mean the badass one that wipes out all updates and such?

Not a problem there, but i have been noticing how damned slow my console seems when running the dashboard. Stupid Jasper arcade unit - I wish I never upgraded.

yeah, mine is very quiet compared to my other unit. I really only noticed it was loading from the disc instead of the drive because the launcher said "Launch from Disc" instead of launch from drive.

Receivers have midnight mode to keep things quieter...

But headphones are a good option, mind you it would highlight your singing a little more if there were no background noise.

Why not? If you don't listen to things in 5.1(or more) that are created with 5.1 (or more), you're not playing/watching the way the devs/creators intended! ;)

just get a receiver that has hdmi in and out, no need to use optical ever again. Easy peasy.

But I did notice when I migrated to a new console that it did not recognize the game installs I had done prior to moving the HD. So I had to delete the installs, and reinstall to get the benefits.

Might be a dumb question, but how many optical inputs does your receiver have? If only one, chances are high it's tied to DVD.

Does your recevier have secondary outputs, like for another...

Interesting - I saw Pro units with the 12V power supply indicating a Jasper. I only went with the arcade because i saw no reason to pay $100 for a chrome disc cover.
