Re: A LOT of my HD-DVDs are defective!

IIRC, the BH200 player was able to play a lot of the ‘defective’ discs. Not sure if it was reading them differently, but I can’t imagine those players are hard to find nowadays.

Re: A LOT of my HD-DVDs are defective!

Re: A LOT of my HD-DVDs are defective!

Nearly all the players, both HD DVD and Blu-ray, were slow and shit until like mid 2008 (for Blu-ray, obviously). I'd hate to go back to that 3 minute load time.

Re: A LOT of my HD-DVDs are defective!

If you don't care about 1080p, get an A2 or A3. If you care about 1080p, get a A20 or A30.

The A35 is a little less common but I think still commands around $80. The XA2 is the best HD DVD player...

Re: A LOT of my HD-DVDs are defective!

I remember the "all HD DVDs will be on Blu-ray is about a year" back in 2008 by some of the big wigs. It's now almost 2013 and there are still HD DVD exclusive movies. Yeah, that's nearly 5 full...

Re: A LOT of my HD-DVDs are defective!

I have a BH200 and it's been pretty good about playing every HD DVD I've thrown at it (can't say the same for Blu-ray since LG is no longer updating firmware to support newer titles). Looks like most...

Re: A LOT of my HD-DVDs are defective!

You could probably re-buy all those on HD DVD for like $20. Or just trade them in for $5 and get the Blu-ray version (if Warner is still doing that deal).

Re: A LOT of my HD-DVDs are defective!

All my HD DVDs have played fine, but honestly, it's been a while since I've touched a Warner one. Maybe I'll pop a few in the BH200 later this week and give them a check.

Re: A LOT of my HD-DVDs are defective!

40 Year Old and American Gangster slips are very rare. 40 YO only had maybe 1-1,500 slips made, and some stores just tossed them because they wouldn't fit in security cases.

American Gangster is...
