The word is that Ubisoft had ten studios working on different pieces and parts of Unity:

Ubisoft Annecy
Ubisoft Bucharest
Ubisoft Chengdu
Ubisoft Kiev
Ubisoft Montpellier
Ubisoft Montréal...

I'm not saying it doesn't occasionally happen, but as standard order of practice, video games are absolutely alone in that regard.
