Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

Didn't Star Tropics just release on the Switch a couple of weeks ago, in the "free" app that you get when you do their online service? (RichC2 mentioned Tetris 99 so I assume he has that)

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

I think Nintendo really went after the major ROM sites as well.

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

They do specify "Nintendo Entertainment System," do anything but the NES and SNES count as NES's? Because if they're just talking Nintendo Systems I'm sure the DS and other portables have also held...

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

Geez. I wonder if there's just that much demand for this thing or if it's mainly scalpers who remember how rare it was and will be disappointed in a few weeks to not be able to sell them over...

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

These are everywhere now. I even saw extra controllers in the wild for the first time.

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

I've seen them a couple of times in So. Cal (Target and Wal-mart) but they do sell out by the next day (I sometimes go after I drop the kids off to get groceries).

They must not be selling on eBay...

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

Is this because they fear the SNES isn't going to sell otherwise? C'mon now. If anything maybe the scalpers back off a little on the SNES (doubtful, but possible) which can only be a good thing.

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

The new 2DS has one key difference, though: it's still a platform that encourages sales of peripherals/games, as opposed to one that really only has one accessory (which they incredibly decided to...

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

Hmm, you may be right, it might not come out this year, but after Switch sales and production settle in a year or two, I'm sure they'd free up a production line for it.

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

Why not? The demand would be insane for it. And the tooling and whatnot wouldn't go to waste if they bring it back as a seasonal item with more games, etc., it'll sell like hotcakes again. The...

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

This all but guarantees high demand for either SNES Classic Edition or NES Classic Edition 2 (now with longer cords! And it'll take an additional week before people crack it open and mod it!)

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

Just think about all the licenses you don't have to pay for. It's a steal. Literally.

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

I said it before, but I think it helped their image somewhat in the eyes of the public to have a hot, in demand system right before the Switch press conference. A reminder that hey, you better...

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

I still say that if this thing was readily available, nobody would want it (kind of like amiibos).

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

Maybe to put the focus on the Switch? Or to keep the comparison of this vs a single joycon.

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

Probably because the manufacturing chain is pretty long, you'd probably have to lock down preorders like in October at latest which is contrary to Xmas shopping, and you'd have to lock it down so...

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

Even if you did order from Walmart, I heard they took more orders than they had anyway and people have to wait.

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

Got my Retrobit generations today after striking out on the nes. Figured maybe my kids would enjoy some arcade classics, at the very least. But it came with two controllers, which is nice. :)
