The anamorphic transfer is solid. Blacks levels look good. There are occasional specs of dust. The sound is fine -- I watched it in French with the English subtitles turned on. I can't remember...

Yes, and he can ruin his own movies. Sometimes the studio knows best. His 'Last of the Mohicans' director's cut is terrible -- everything the studio cut NEEDED to be cut.

Has anyone used their 727 to play anamorphic PAL DVDs on a widescreen TV? I understand it correctly letterboxes ana PAL discs on 4:3 sets, but how about on 16:9 TVs?
