The Seville (Canadian) release of Pt 1 does have the Lars von Trier appearances. They're not intros - they actually aired at the end of each episode, under (or beside) the credits.

But, um, NTSC systems play at 30 frames per second, not 24. So there's a time change there as well, by your rationale.

I haven't had any trouble with mine. It's an old drive - Toshiba SD-M1202 but everything looks fine. You'll need a decent amount of power to keep sound/picture from stuttering with the software...
