Re: The Official Box Office Discussion Thread

Dune 2 is showing good legs, only trailing Kung Fu Panda 4 less than $1million , and that's its third weekend.

Re: Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver (2024, D: Zack Snyder) - Netflix

This looks...eye rollingly bad. Give me some beer and edibles and it might be tolerable.

Re: Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024, D: Kenan)

Ditto. I watched many an episode during my later childhood years (basically before I hit puberty and started thinking about girls), and I can tell from the previews many of the creatures are...

Re: Damsel (2024, D: Fresnadillo) S: Millie Bobby Brown

Agree 100% with the look being too clean and the dialogue. However, Elodie did indeed tell the dragon how she had been fooled. I can only surmise that with this and the fact that you don't remember...

Re: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024, D: Wingard)

I will be seeing this but not expecting anything major. Just a fun monster romp like KOTM and GvK. I know this isn't going to be anywhere near the level of quality that was Minus One, and I don't...

Re: The Prestige Review Thread

I love it whenever one of these threads gets resurrected. It's like stepping into a time machine and visiting one of your past selves. I have since seen the movie several times in the past two...

Re: Dune: Part Two (2024, D: Villeneuve) -- The Spoiler Reviews Thread

Glad to see so many non book readers enjoying the movie. Bodes well for it's staying power.

Re: The Fall Guy (2024, D: Leitch) S: Gosling, Blunt, Taylor-Johnson

Looks like the chemistry Blunt and Gosling had at the Oscars started with this movie. Still holding out hope that Gosling does a cover of the theme song, especially after his big performance this...

Re: Damsel (2024, D: Fresnadillo) S: Millie Bobby Brown

Saw this last night and found it entertaining but didn't come close to Dragonslayer. I think 6/10 is the best I could give it . Any scene relating to the dragon (including the two statues as they...

Re: Dune: Part Two (2024, D: Villeneuve) -- The Spoiler Reviews Thread

I would actually like to see Guillermo Del Toro take on Children of Dune.

Re: Damsel (2024, D: Fresnadillo) S: Millie Bobby Brown

I will definitely be giving this one a shot. I am glad that they appear to actually be taking the old school dark fantasy of the 80s approach.

Re: TRON: ARES (D: Rønning) S: Jared Leto

I'm kind of curious why Disney sees fit to continue this franchise. While I personally enjoy it, they've never been huge performers. Also, no Daft Punk is a major drawback.

re: Dune: Messiah -- news, rumors, etc. DUN3 "Dishes are Dune, man."

I'm actually hoping (probably against hope) that MAX will present the two part adaptation in extended form as a series when/if the release of Messiah is made official.

Re: I Saw the TV Glow (A24) (5/3/24, D: Schoenbrun) S: Justice Smith

While they are definitely hit and miss, A24 productions consistently give you something outside the box for modern movies.

re: Dune: Messiah -- news, rumors, etc. DUN3 "Dishes are Dune, man."

I would go with either him or Jared Leto, but Leto is a bit of a reputable jerk and they may not want to deal with him. Given the plot of the book, they also need to bring back Jason Momoa .

Re: Dune: Part Two (2024, D: Villeneuve) -- The Spoiler Reviews Thread

That was probably a factor in deciding to delay the release until after the SAG strike. They have a huge cast and it's best to let them sell the movie.

Re: Dune: Part Two (2024, D: Villeneuve) -- The Spoiler Reviews Thread

Caught this today and overall I think Villeneuve did a great job adapting the material given the circumstances of what he could realistically do and maintain audience interest. Having read the first...

Re: Dune: Part Two (2024, D: Villeneuve) -- The Spoiler Reviews Thread

So I guess we're to presume he died during the Harkonnen invasion in part one.

Re: Dune: Part Two (2024, D: Villeneuve) -- The Spoiler Reviews Thread

Having read the book a couple of times, I'm not really digging all of these changes. It seems to be confirming my suspicion that Villeneuve was allowed to make part 2 on the condition that he make it...

Re: Dune: Part Two (2024, D: Villeneuve) -- The Spoiler Reviews Thread

Haven't seen it but have read the book and that's a big surprise to me. I guess we're supposed to presume he just passed away off screen ? I know Villeneuve has stated he's against director's cuts or...

Re: Dune: Part Two (2024, D: Villeneuve) 2une: I Could Dune This All Day

The more I see of the promotion for this movie the more I realize why the studio decided to delay it due to the SAG strike. While other movies with the focus on just one major star could have...

Re: Dune: Part Two (2024, D: Villeneuve) 2une: I Could Dune This All Day

I was hoping for this as well. I remember them doing it with the two Blade Runners back in 2017.
