Point of order, congressman, anime is a medium, not a genre. You are, however, describing disliking the shonen genre (kind of. that's technically a demographic of boys 12-18).

I, a man pushing 40, like Rey. I think she's one of the strongest parts of the Sequels and I like how they use her to reinforce the message from Empire that the Force works on belief, not experience....
