Re: Need advice: intro to scary movies for my 10yr old boy

I remember thinking when I watched JAWS that I would be able to out swim any killer sharks that I might encounter--so yeah, "too stupid to be scared" probably applied to me as well.

Re: Burn marks on discs?

Thanks for the replies guys. I figured it was likely nothing, but I thought I'd see if anyone else noticed this on their discs. Like I said, it seems to only be on double sided discs, not regular...

Burn marks on discs?

Hey guys, bought a couple of used discs the other day, and I noticed that there is what can be described as burn marks on the edge of the reflective layer on double-sided discs.

Re: What This Forum Tells Us About the State of the World

I agree with you that television dramas have progressively gotten better over the years, and that they currently make up some of the best television that's available. Comedies seem to have taken...

Re: What This Forum Tells Us About the State of the World

I'm not going to argue that there are some great shows on television currently, because there are. I'm just saying that I don't think that we are in the "golden age" of television, as previously...

Re: What This Forum Tells Us About the State of the World

To be fair, it seems like the forums over at blu-ray.com are a bit more active than they are here. I agree that most of what's getting wide-distribution in movie theaters in trash. However, most of...

Re: Need advice: intro to scary movies for my 10yr old boy

What about Drag Me To Hell? It's rated PG-13, and IMO isn't super intense, but there is some scares in it.

Re: Need advice: intro to scary movies for my 10yr old boy

+1 on Coraline. That one was really good. I'm not a big fan of the Corpse Bride, and I've never seen the Nightmare Before Christmas.

Re: Need advice: intro to scary movies for my 10yr old boy

Like I said, I think that there are scenes in Raiders that are scarier, but if he hasn't seen anything like that then he could find JAWS scary.

Re: Need advice: intro to scary movies for my 10yr old boy

Totally agree with this. Watched one of the Saw movies(I think the fourth) and turned it off half way through. Had no interest in the other films after that.

Re: Need advice: intro to scary movies for my 10yr old boy

I actually didn't watch too many horror movies as a kid. I just though that there were scenes in other movies that were scarier than JAWS, like the face-melting scene in Raider of the Lost Arc....

Re: Need advice: intro to scary movies for my 10yr old boy

That's irrelevant to the topic at hand. I'm not doubting that it was terrifying to see JAWS in theaters in the 70's. I'm just saying that it's not something that (IMO) would scare a ten year-old...

Re: Need advice: intro to scary movies for my 10yr old boy

Not really...When I would go to blockbuster with my parents, JAWS was one of those ones that I always wanted to rent. My parents said that it was too scary, but I eventually bugged them enough and...

Re: Need advice: intro to scary movies for my 10yr old boy

I watched Jaws when I was eight, and it didn't scare me in the least. I think it's one of those ones that just got built up so much as a terrifying movie that my expectations were too high. IT (the...

Re: What Happened to the Trade-In Market?

I used to wait until I was ready to watch something to open it, until I went to watch Ghoulies(1 and 2) a year after I bought it and found this ->tinypic.com/view.php?pic=rtfho1&s=6 in the case. Now...

The Haunting (1963) is another one that I watched as a kid that scared me. Highly recommend that one

Re: Need advice: intro to scary movies for my 10yr old boy

I watched The Ring when I was eleven and couldn't sleep for a week. The first Child's Play was pretty scary, and the comedy kind of offsets the scares a little. If you can find it, Dolls was about...

Hey everyone, I just ordered a DVD from an Amazon seller(it was new), and I noticed some discoloration on the reflective surface of the disc. Have any of you guys gotten discs like this? (here's a...

Re: KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park DVD

Thanks for the replies everyone. Looking into a little more, I think I have a bootleg of the cheezy flicks bootleg. It plays fine though, so I guess I'll keep it, but it is a burned DVD-R.

In the...

Thanks for the replies guys. I did know that the movie is on Kissology volume 2, unfortunately I didn't find out until after I bought the stand-alone DVD on ebay.

I was pretty sure that Cheezy...

Hi everyone, new member here.

I spent some time reading through other threads, and I think I'm posting this in the right place, but if I'm not just tell me so I'll know for next time.

Reason...
