Re: How are you going to vote this year? (2020)

I've got my ballot on my desk here, just looking a couple things up to get a better understanding of what is trying to be accomplished. I'll likely drop it off at the same dropbox I've used previously at the nearby rec center.

Re: How are you going to vote this year? (2020)

Received my ballot in the mail yesterday, filled it out last night, and dropped it off in a ballot drop-off box at a county building just down the street from my house this morning.

Easy peasy. I didnít even have to get out of my car, although I was somewhat surprised there was already a line of cars dropping off their ballots too. Only delayed me a couple minutes.

To answer the question posed by the thread title: with teeth clenched and sweat pouring down my brow, most likely.

Re: How are you going to vote this year? (2020)

I had decided awhile ago to vote in-person since there's a five-day window for it here and I've never run into crowds. My best friend mentioned that his wife had mailed in her ballot last week and received the confirmation that it was received by the registrar, and I got to thinkin' about why I feel the need to go in person. So, I filled out the mail-in thing - and made sure I followed all the instructions! - and dropped it off a few minutes ago at the post office. So, the poll above is now off by one in two categories.

I choose to read that optimistically.

Update: checked the website a few days later, saw the message: Your ballot was accepted on October 1, 2020 and will be counted.

I couldn't be prouder to have voted early and done so in September as soon as we possibly could. I'm upset by how many people need to wait in these lines and all the other issues happening. This should be simple, not ridiculous.

So, I have a friend that never got her mail in ballot but recently got confirmation that it had been accepted. She's gotta track down and find out what happened. What a mess.

Got my ballot in the mail today! I'll probably put it in the dropbox a couple miles away from my house next week.

I can't wait until the 19th which is the first day the early voting drop boxes will be available. Planning on going down on my lunch break as I don't think there will be a line to drop sealed mail in ballots in the drop box.

Re: How are you going to vote this year? (2020)

I was running some errands this morning and planned on early voting as my last stop. As I drove up to my polling place (around 9:00 am), I saw a line of several hundred people wrapped around the building and down the sidewalk. Wow, I've never seen it like that before. I decided to wait and check again later--luckily I live just a few minutes away and I have plenty of opportunities to go.

Re: How are you going to vote this year? (2020)

In-person on Election Day.

My polling place is never that busy, and I can get in and out quickly The longest I've had to wait is probably ten minutes at peak hours in the later afternoon/evening.

It will only take me about fifteen seconds to fill out my ballot, so I'll just do it while I'm standing there and not even bother walking into the little curtained germ booth.

I know what's on the ballot; there are only five things I need to vote for. All of the state/local positions are unopposed, so I won't bother voting for them. (They're all "R" by the way.)

Re: How are you going to vote this year? (2020)

I filled out my ballot today. Will be dropping it on Monday. I voted for the Republican Sheriff because I think he's actually doing a good job in my county. I couldn't find any write ups on the judges in my county except from the Republican party, so I just picked the opposite of whatever they said.

Well, I tried a different location later yesterday and it was packed, too. Parking lot overflowing and cars lined up on the road with drivers waiting to get in. I nope'd out of there and came back home. Didn't bother today. They're closed tomorrow, and they close at 5 pm weekdays next week, so it may be next Saturday before I can try again. I think it should be less crowded because that'll be in the middle of our early voting window, and I've heard it's most crowded in the beginning (now) and in the last days (end of the month).

^Rhetorical question to a fellow cat-lover: where would a cat barf in a house with hardwood flooring, no rugs or carpets, and furniture without fabric? Hark! I think I have just solved the age-old problem of feline vomiting.

Not a cat owner, but from what I recall, they will puke just about anywhere. If they're going to shit on the floor, then they favor carpets, throw rugs, bath mats, or door mats.

Re: How are you going to vote this year? (2020)

I just early voted in person at a local polling station. Second day of voting, went at 4pm. Wait was less than five minutes to go inside. Took my info off my sample ballot, didnít need to provide any ID. It was easy for me.
My wife is not so lucky, she got an error message when she was trying to submit her ballot. The poll worker told her there may have been a loose wire or something. Now I am waiting for her in the car. 😂. I hope they can fix her machine soon.

Half hour later and she still hasn't come out. What a nightmare for her.
Edit she just came out. Took a half hour to reboot her machine.

Believe me, cats will go out of their way to puke onto carpets and rugs. A couple of years ago or thereabouts, I was in a dead sleep when I heard, in the distant recesses of my awareness, the telltale agonal retching coming from nearby in my room. I leapt out of bed, plucked up the heaving cat, who was about to ralf onto my carpet, and deposited him in the nick of time onto the floor next to the carpet, where he proceeded to lose his lunch. I was surprised and pleased by my alertness and cat-like reflexes, but more often than not one misses the event. Luckily, cat vomit is infinitely less disgusting than the human kind, so cleaning it up is not a big deal.
