Griffin was arts and entertainment. The NRA video is not. Weird.

Did any NRA people speak against the video?

NRA members? The reasonable ones, sure. The alternative viewpoint is that there should be a civil war to settle our disagreements. This is within the Youtube and Twitterverse.

I haven't seen anything from NRA officials. And the re-posted video is still on Youtube. It was deleted and then reposted in the past day or two. It's posted on the NRA's official Youtube account. It's not a 3rd party video.

You ever notice that republicans and conseratives think tney are entitled to outrage in a way that they think democrats and liberals aren't?

They are really, really good at selling this idea to the public. They spent eight years lynching a black democrat president in effigy, comparing him to hitler and Stalin, and outright threatening violence and insurrection. And then they get all self-righteous when a five foot tall woman holds a fake severed head. The outrage is so fucking phony as to be laughable.

Do they even see it? This is why that Hannity episode (posted in the other thread) is such a joke. Hannity spent 8 years spinning news against Obama. Now everything he's spun is coming back to him in a very apparent hypocritical way. The big joke, is that he doesn't seem to have a grasp or a consciousness about it. But it's so apparent.

I'm said it before - the conservative media really backed themselves into a corner during Obama. It was so partisan and unreasonable, that there's nothing they can do now to not look like hypocrites. Similar to how, for everything Trump does, you can source and old Tweet where he condemned the same thing during Obama's administration. Again, it's very apparent ... and they seem to lack any self-awareness about it.

I don't know. I supposed you have a lot of responsibility, and need to keep moving forward. A "that was then this is now" mentality. But it's hard to conceive how these people can be relentlessly hypocritical. And seemingly without conscious.

Bad example. People on the left resoundingly agreed she'd gone too far.

Re: The latest NRA recruitment video is unsettling to many

I can tell you that neither I nor the majority of the other gun owners I know have supported the NRA cult for years. Them boys be tetched. A quick google reveals that 9 out of 10 gun owners in the US are NOT NRA members, and the backlash to shit like this will (hopefully) convince them to straighten out.

Who am I kidding. In the social media age it's all about eyeshare. Things like strong membership levels or rational positions are irrelevant.

I don't think you'll get this or agree with it, but it is entirely possible for a single post to contain two batshit crazy ideas. I haven't watched the video, but I'm prepared to accept that it is as bad as advertised. However, if I were to judge it based entirely on your thread, you lost all credibility, I'd be inclined to assume that the video was perfectly benign. Take that for what it is worth.

Or maybe, if you're in a thread ABOUT A VIDEO, you should actually, you know, watch the video before you comment?

I'm a big 2nd Amendment zealot, but this video is ridiculous.

I almost joined the NRA once because they were offering a cool T-shirt along with your membership. They should stick to gimmicks like that instead of stupid scare tactics.

Re: The latest NRA recruitment video is unsettling to many

I also was going to join the NRA when I was first getting into guns. However, their support for anti gun republicans over pro gun democrats made me rethink joining them. Back then they weren't blatantly racist.

One thing I will disagree with is the attempt to have the video removed from the NRA site and youtube page. I think it is the perfect example to turn reasonable people off. Sure they will pickup more extremist but that will end up hurting them more when they become toxic or rather more toxic.

Grant Stinchfield, a host for the National Rifle Association’s online TV network, would be happy if North Korea dropped a bomb on the capital of California.

Media Matters notes that Stinchfield wrote on Twitter that the United States government should “send a note” to North Korea telling them that “Sacramento changed its name to Guam.” Stinchfield references Guam in his tweet because North Korea has threatened to launch missiles at the U.S. territory in the event of an American attack on its military.

Let's send a note to North Korea that Sacramento changed its name to Guam!

— Grant Stinchfield (@stinchfield1776) August 11, 2017

Less than two months ago, Stinchfield spoke out against left wingers who use “inflammatory rhetoric” that could inspire “unstable” individuals to commit acts of violence.

The irony of Stinchfield, who lives in Dallas, urging a foreign power to attack a major American city was not lost on his Twitter followers, who hammered him in subsequent replies.

He ended up saying, "Sorry, it's just a joke, bro!"

That guy's twitter makes him sound like he's an immature teenager or troll. I can't believe a grown man carries himself like that.
