Baltimore Riots

And here we go again.

The city of Baltimore is currently under siege as several days of peaceful protests over another black death in police custody has now exploded into violence and looting.

It's been 23 years since the L.A. Riots, which this is being compared to. I don't think it's quite at that level yet, but with several areas being attacked at different times, it could turn that way.

The Orioles have a home game scheduled for tonight. I don't see how they play that game, either in good taste or from a logistical standpoint.

They're really pulling out all the stops for the filming of the next season of The Wire.

Re: Baltimore Riots

Typical thugs looking for any excuse to loot and riot. Nothing new.

The mayor didn't help things by announcing she was giving them "space to destroy". Talk about a green light.

I'm supposed to fly there this weekend for the Orioles-Rays series. I'm not sure that's such a good idea at the moment.

People are so stupid. And these people aren't doing much in not reinforcing the bs stereotype that black people have. Way to go, dumb fucks.

Well I guess nothing says "We deserve to be treated with more respect" than acting like uncivilized idiots.

Re: Baltimore Riots

What does protesting actually accomplish? It seems like all it does is get people riled up, which inevitably leads to rioting/looting.

Love the cherry picked photo on CNN's front page that shows only white cops in riot gear clashing with nothing but young black people.

Protest in one of the cornerstones of our country.

The problem is, we're at a point in this country where people will protest anything. So it becomes white noise and loses it's power. People won't remember that this took place the day they buried the guy, they'll remember the hundreds of people flooding the CVS and 7-Eleven. For free gatorade. And menthols.

And on top of that, you have thugs like you see in those photos that look for any reason to loot and riot. Police protests? RIOT! LOOT! Team wins championship? RIOT! LOOT! McDonalds didn't put bacon on burger? RIOT! LOOT!

The Orioles did postpone their game.

The media will still favor White vs Black w/ the Black looking bad. Take for instance:

Spoiler:

Which I'm seeing as these bitches throw a chair and run, this nice gentleman tries to bring them a drink and in return they try to steal his purse and karate chop him. What kind of bullshit is that?

Fuck these people. They want it to burn down, let it burn down. Don't give them a fucking dime to rebuild.

Changing frequently. Just looked again - different picture than the first time I looked - this time three white cops in riot helmets, no rioters.

so does that mean the property owners can sue the city for the replacement costs of everything they lose?

Re: Baltimore Riots

Why haven't any law enforcement been able to use crop dusters during riots, loaded with pepper spray.
Better yet, where are those frequency weapons that make you puke. They used them in Iraq.

I was wondering that myself. They also have those that make you feel like you are on fire.

Then again I'm sure people would come out and talk about "military tactics" and demand the police departments only have happy looking vehicles.

Re: Baltimore Riots

Anyone have a decent livestream? During the Ferguson riots there was a guy walking around streaming at the street level. Very compelling. All I've found for Baltimore is TV station and helicopter feeds.

I think the Dodgers had to postpone 3 games in '92, ending up having to play like 3 doubleheaders to make them up. The Lakers had to move a playoff game to Vegas, while the Clippers moved one to Anaheim.

After looting the CVS, they set it on fire.
