JFK assassination 50 years later

Friday will mark half a century since that fateful day in Dallas
I visited Dealey Plaza back in 1991, it had an eerie feeling that's hard to explain

I wasn't born until 1976 so of course I couldn't tell you where I was

It's been 50 years. Time to move on to another event.

Kennedy assassination! Pearl Harbor! The Lusitania! The Maine! Attack on Fort Sumter! The Alamo! Boston Massacre!

9/11 has obviously taken the assassination's place in regards "Where were you when...?" and conspiracy theories.

Re: JFK assassination 50 years later

This summer, I came across a pile of newspapers covering the days after Kennedy's assasination. I noticed something interesting concerning the business scene in Buffalo that day.

Potentially NSFW

Re: JFK assassination 50 years later

I was a junior in high school. I was eating lunch at home and listening to the radio. Ricky Nelson's "Poor Little Fool" was interrupted with the bulletin that the president had been shot. Of course, a little while later it was announced that he had died.

I had two tests scheduled that afternoon. The math teacher went ahead with his test. The chemistry teacher more sensibly canceled his and the class just talked informally amongst ourselves. Very sad day, very sad four days.

My family and I happened to be watching NBC on Sunday, the only network that was covering Oswald's jail transfer live so I saw Ruby murder Oswald as it happened.

If you haven't read it, read 11.22.63 by Stephen King. Great JFK stuff, and enough time travel, horror, adventure to satisfy us non-history buffs.

Yeah, I wasn't even born yet but my mom was 13 when he was killed and even then, in Mexico, everyone thought there was something wrong about the whole thing. It's a fascinating case and I do think Oliver Stone's JFK flick (directors cut) is a landmark film.

Re: JFK assassination 50 years later

I was 5 years old. In kindergarten. The principal came to classroom door and asked the teacher into the hall. The teacher came back in and told us we were going home and that are parents would tell us why. This was the days of afternoon cartoons and some kid said, "Yippie! We can watch cartoons!". The teacher said there probably wouldn't be any cartoons on, and this being Friday, she added there probably wouldn't be any on tomorrow either. I remember thinking, "WTF? No Saturday morning cartoons?".
It was a cold, dark, rainy day. I didn't know what I was supposed to do so I started walking home. I got about half a block when my grandpa pull up next to me all pissed because I was walking in the pouring rain. That's all I remember concerning the entire event.

I think it's a lot more interesting to hear about the nude swimming parties at the White House.

Could this evidence support the JFK killed JFK conspiracy theory?

On a cool summer night in 1971, Richard Nixon sighed and laid his pen down on his desk. "Gentlemen, we've been at this for hours. I think we need a breather. Why don't we adjourn to the pool?" Spiro Agnew shot a glance at Melvin Laird and smiled. They both knew what Tricky Dick had in mind. But Kissinger was confused. "Mr. President, I did not bring any swimming trunks," he began, but the President stifled him. "Relax, Henry. At my pool parties, swimming trunks aren't necessary." ...

Seems like the only reason JFK is still in the news is because more pathetic books are being written.

I just came to post this.

Same goes for Lincoln.

Assassins need to wait until the public opinion is low, then kill the president, and then be labeled folk heroes or revolutionaries.
