Trump did bring in 51m in June, so they're starting to get on track a bit.

I'll wait until the official filing before I'll entertain the possibility of that being true.

As opposed to Al Sharpton speaking at the DNC, stating Hillary isn't a bigot.

Looking at Al, Oreos have definitely been redirected somewhere, though. Because he's not eating much lately.

Meanwhile, from the satire-so-close-to-truth-it's-scary section:

Congressional Republicans Vote to Abolish F.B.I.
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In a stunning rebuke to one of the nation’s oldest and most established law-enforcement agencies, House Republicans voted unanimously on Tuesday to abolish the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Unlike most House measures, which come up for a vote only after months or even years of sluggish effort, the bill to eliminate the F.B.I. was drafted in a matter of minutes on Tuesday morning, Republican staffers confirmed.

House Speaker Paul Ryan offered no specific reason for the Republicans’ sudden frenzy of activity to abolish the F.B.I., but said that the Bureau represented “big government at its worst.”

“This is an agency that, when given even the simplest task to do, can’t manage to do it right,” he said.

Representative Trey Gowdy of South Carolina bemoaned the F.B.I.’s “bloated and wasteful” annual budget of eight billion dollars, which he said could easily pay for an additional eleven hundred Benghazi investigations.

Can't wait for Republicans to unanimously to abolish Democrats.

If this is all Republicans have in their political arsenal, Hillary won't even need a VP.

Classic crazy, rambling speech from Trump tonight. He doubled down on "it was just a star," ignoring the origin of the image and blaming CNN for calling it a Star of David. Then he admires Saddam Hussein some more. Then a mosquito triggered his ADD.

In a week when Clinton is facing--rightfully--some of the most negative press coverage in her career, Trump is squandering a golden opportunity to land some incisive blows against her and try to position himself--in theory--as more responsible and more fitting for the office of President. Instead, his campaign sends out that stupid meme that backfired and Trump goes on camera and derps it up. What a bunch of incompetent boobs.

You can argue Trump is crazy and naive, but arguing Trump purposely used a Jewish symbol to somehow convey his Jewish hatred is not only just as crazy, but considerably more ignorant than Trump is accused of being.

For every finger pointing at Trump, some of you really don't know your political history before 2015. Trump knows the Clintons. So if such an anti-semite human being is gracing the Republican Party, maybe you people should ask Hillary Clinton why she associated with the Trump so much and even accepted his money.

I don't think Trump is an anti-semite--at least not in any direct sense, and I didn't claim so in my post. I don't think Trump knowingly tweeted an antisemitic image, and I'm even willing to give the benefit of the doubt to whomever on his staff actually found the image--that they found it elsewhere and didn't realize the racist nature of it. Assuming this is true just indicates a high level of incompetence in Trump's campaign.

But after learning of the origin of the image, it's dishonest of him to claim "it's just a star!" The information about the image originating on a white supremacy site has been all over the news. Trump obviously must know this by now. But he lies and pretends that there's nothing offensive about the image and that people are interpreting it wrongly because the media is out to get him. And it's ignorant of his supporters to believe him. In many cases, its willful ignorance by people who should know better but are turning a blind eye.

And my main point is--this is all just profoundly stupid on Trump's part. All he had to do was say, "Oops, that was an innocent oversight--sorry." He would have looked much better and wouldn't have distracted the media as much from Clinton's bad publicity this week. But he's a big-mouthed fool who can't see two steps ahead and think about the consequences of his words and actions.

No, he may not be anti-Semitic, but it's a dog-whistle to people who are, and he's reposted racist shit that originated on racist websites, not just once or twice, but repeatedly. At some point you have ask why would he keep doing this - and it's obvious that it's coded language used in order to appeal to that segment of people he's after.

He tries to appeal to the group of people who have failed to properly understand the modern trends of social rights and a globalized economy. On the one hand, the growth of certain industries that have resulted in deep changes to global lifestyle and economy has caught many people off guard, and as the old adage goes people fear what they don't understand. On the other hand, Trump is one of the few people to tap into a primal rage that has festered underneath modern society. In recent decades the changes have been relatively swift and fervent. What people could freely express 20, 30 years ago is not only not kosher, but just really rotten shit to say and believe today. Trump promises these people that it's OK, you can continue to think your way and let's all get you rewarded for it. You're the one who's truly important!

Trump tries to peddle the ideas that the complexities of the modern world don't really exist and/or have easy solutions. Angry about the fact that the kinds of jobs you used to have don't exist in the country anymore? It's those evil Chinese! Frustrated with the fact that your dollars have less and less purchasing power? It's the Mexicans coming to fuck everything up!

He's all about blaming something outer or "other" instead of looking to change/improve something inside.

Makes you wonder, if Hilary and Trump made a secret deal for him to tank the election for the Republicans 2 years ago what exactly would be done diferently then he is doing now.

That's the best you got? There's a lot of things about Trump people didn't know until he ran for president. And all of it makes him look worse than what we imagined. Last night I learned that of hundreds of charities that he claims he donated to only one can show record of a donation for $10,000 and even that's questionable.

Re: The 2016 Presidential Election thread: Great Scott!!

A few new polls out, looks like currently we're in a situation where Clinton is up by about half a dozen points. I imagine any variation in that until the conventions will be "noise" and little else.

<img width = 900 src = "http://i.imgur.com/itQzp9t.png"></img>

I'm also seeing some stuff on Twitter that Trump might have some issues with national security briefings because of Paul Manafort's ties to Putin. I haven't seen anything substantial on that yet however.

I've asked that same question.

Here's the latest argument for that being the case:

I wanna know why nothing came of his soliciting campaign funds from foreign nationals.

They're saying he did it unintentionally (like Clinton), but similarly, that's bullshit, as his campaign (if not Trump personally) knew full well who they were sending emails to.

I contend that someone who does not condemn racists but courts them, is a racist. Using dog-whistles simply indicates that one is a cowardly racist.

Some can challenge one to show proof that Trump is a racist or anti-semite (as if the incessant retweeting and repeating of racist/anti-semitic material weren't enough). To that I say, "he has people for that". It gives him plausible deniably among the low-educated folk.

Though I shy away from conspiracy theories I can't help to think the same thing. Trump is too awful to be believed. And Hillary can walk between the raindrops when it comes to scandals. ("Sure she was grossly reckless as Secretary of State, but we'll give her a pass")

Time to trot this out for the zillionth time:

Donald Trump looks to be playing the scripted caricature of a dumb as nails fencewalker. That whole sheriff's star thing takes the cake for dumbass excuses. Some of the ridiculous things he says seem very odd.

Yeah, he's that too. I just meant he's not an out&out racist like the people from the racist sites he posts stuff from.

Or, maybe he's just doing that to lose the race to his good friend Hillary - the campaign's become so ridiculous that even ridiculous conspiracy theories are starting to sound reasonable.

Can't embed this video but you have to watch this excerpt clip of Trump's speech in Ohio. There's something seriously wrong with this guy.
