Chuck: Are you tired of missing out on the good things in life --
family vacations, jet packs, solid gold dancers?

Homer: [to Marge:] There's only three left in the world.

Chuck: Well, stick around, 'cause I'm gonna tell you the twelve

Re: The Official Media bias thread ptIII

I think it's a little scary that we have an elected official who wants the FCC to shut down two networks that don't broadcast over the air.

I think it's very scary that nobody seems to care.

The Koch brothers are not a counterexample to the fact that Soros gets people's blood boiling by merely existing. I think what you meant to say is that the Koch brothers are similar figures on the right (though I'm not sure why you needed to say it facetiously, since nobody ever suggested there weren't similar figures on the right).

It's not that no one seems to care, it's that most people realize that he wasn't seriously suggesting that the FCC actually do that.

Here is what Rockefeller said:

Quote:
“There’s a little bug inside of me which wants to get the F.C.C. to say to Fox and to MSNBC, ‘Out. Off. End. Goodbye.’ It would be a big favor to political discourse; to our ability to do our work here in Congress; and to the American people, to be able to talk with each other and have some faith in their government and, more importantly, in their future.”
Do you honestly think that "there’s a little bug inside of me which wants..." denotes a serious call for action? Yes, as a Senator, Rockefeller should be more cautious in his choices of words. That, at least, should be beyond dispute.

Why am I not surprised that you generally agree with him.

Could it be that I've see hundreds of your posts on this forum?

I think you got a little touchy just having the Koch brothers mentioned.

Congratulations for cracking the code and figuring out that I'm fairly liberal, just like George Soros and tens of millions of other Americans. FYI, we don't all hang out together.

Thank God. If you all did, the concentrated smell of patchouli oil and marijuana would be overpowering.

In seeing these new TSA guidelines, and media reaction to it, I go back to the piece I posted in the previous thread about the media having an authoritarian bias rather than liberal bias. Have there been any major newspapers that have come out against the scans and pat-downs? I have yet to see one. They basically say STFU and take it.

Then there's the push polling on the issue:

Fairly liberal.

I'm fairly bald.

Re: The Official Media bias thread ptIII

I noticed something ironic about the commercials shown on FoxNews. At lunch, I often watch MSNBC and FOX. Fox has an inordinate amount of personal injury lawyer commercials getting the old folks and unemployed to sue their employers for worker's comp and other issues that the right is usually steadfastly against. When they aren't running commercials from personal injury lawyers, they are running commercials from third party medical companies who promise that everything they sell to you will be 100% covered by your Medicare. And if you have any problems getting it covered, THEY will get it covered for you. It's interesting that Fox is so eager to get you to sue your employer and suckle the teat of government healthcare during their commercials but speak out against such things as a network. Anything for a buck.

Much of that advertising is from the cable supplier - Dish Network, Direct TV, cable companies, etc.

Sure. But they all pick Fox. I suppose they have a higher number of old and unemployed/disabled hypocrites.

They pick Fox because Fox has more viewers - period.

So all other advertisers choose MSNBC because they have less viewers?

Don't forget Patrick Cox of Taxmasters, who always very carefully angles his head and body to the camera:
