I was in 4th grade. I remember that when one of the students came in to tell us what happened we all cheered. Looking back, I'm not too proud of that.

Who cares?
That was my attitude back then. I was young so you can't blame me.

It was near this reaction by many around me at the time that began my life as a Republican.*

*That is not to say that all Democrats, or only Democrats, could have that type of reaction, but it seemed that way to me back then.

I was in Hong Kong and remember the amount of concern and respect Reagan had around there from surviving the assassination attempt at his age.

Does it surprise you? Imagine the reaction if something happened to our current president. There would be parties in many circles...

I was three months old, so probably sleeping. Maybe crying. We can pretend it was about Reagan if it makes you feel better.

4th grade. I believe they sent us home early, which may explain the cheering in other stories.

I was in 7th grade and at a classmate's house working on a project. I remember that the 1966 Batman movie was going to be on that afternoon on the local ABC station. When the classmate's younger brother tuned in to watch, it had been pre-empted for the news.

I also remember two things from watching the news that night: Frank Reynolds (on ABC) uncharacterically losing his cool demeanor over not knowing what was going on concerning Reagan's condition, and Dan Rather "confirming" that James Brady had died.

I was 5 years old. Whatever I was doing at the time probably involved crayons or Matchbox cars.

But I remember being glued to the TV when Buckwheat was shot.

It does, actually. It is probably a bigger endictment of parent's attitudes towards presidents that anything, as kids at that age tend to act like their parents would (in their own minds, anyway).

I'm kinda surprised that I don't have any specific memory of where I was when I heard about this, and I was definately old enough at the time. I think I was working graveyard then so I may have been sleeping and found out later.

Yeah that was pretty much it when i was in that class. It was a private christian school and it was mostly Black. We were all pretty much born into the Democrat party. We were in 4th grade. What the hell did we know about Ronnie's politics and why did we hate him so? We just knew that our Democrat minority parents didn't like him and that was all we needed. I remember when he was 1st elected and this woman was saying that the Klu Klux Klan was going to "comeback" with him in Office. WHAT?! I was a kid and that scared the hell out of me. I mean I had no idea why Reagan would do that but I was convinced that he would.

I was a senior in high school. I was sitting in class when someone came in and announced the news.
