Re: RIP NORML54601

Hmm if I used the Googles right it does look like charges were dropped from last year's thing. Not sure it's the same guy though, but that is a pretty unique handle.

...and then got sued 2 days after his death by the unemployment folks.

RIP, but yeah sounds like he led an uh interesting life and may not have been a great dude

Yep, that's him. I see what you're referring to now - looks like the motion to dismiss was because he's deceased.

I remember NORM talking about weed legalization as well, but not much else. RIP and condolences to his family and friends.

Re: RIP NORML54601

A little internet sleuthing found his name and the articles. I cant link to them because they were behind a paywall and I had to read them behind the pop up asking me to sign up. Regardless, his most recent posts here seemed to indicate where his life was headed.

He always seemed like a really nice guy when he posted here but his life choices obviously spiraled out of control to seemingly make some um, not so great decisions.

Once you have the name (which is unfortunately somewhat common), then Google for that name and "norml" and you will get a people finder results page that includes a partially obfuscated email address that lists his city and state. Then Google for his name along with that city and state and you will get links to a couple of paywalled news articles but you can still read the first few paragraphs. Those will give you enough info to satisfy your curiosity I suspect.

Yeesh.

Re: RIP NORML54601

So then what was his cause of death? Suicide by overdose or something like that? I couldn't find COD at all but considering he was about to do some serious time for all of that, I wouldn't be surprised.

I have sympathy for those with addictions.

But a drug problem does not make one do what he was accused of. If true, there is no sympathy.

Re: RIP NORML54601

Mod Note: We have rules about doxxing people:

ABSOLUTELY NO: Posting personal information (full name, street address, etc of another member of non-member without their consent)

Even in death, that rule stands. NORML54601 cannot give consent because he has passed away. This is tricky territory we haven't really navigated much before, to my knowledge, because news stories about members, whether amazing news or terrible news, is likely a rare occurence, even after they're dead. When in uncharted territory, the rules help give direction in the meantime. The rule states people don't use DVDTalk to divulge things about another user's identity, thank you.
