Any story/reasoning behind your username?

So, i had 2. first scott1598 before the premium members got a one time name change a few years ago, when was that?.

probably, like most, i just signed up for site, was curious, didn't think i would be here long and went simple with my name and 4 easy presses on the number keys. i think first choice was shaun of the dead something, but someone had that.

so. when we got the second chance and this is really the only place i browse anymore and cost me thousands upon thousands of $, sweats, tears, in dvd's and blurays. holy shit! but, i guess it's a hobby. my mom says i have no hobbies. i think this would be considered.

anyway, my first and only thought was OldBoy. Based on the phenomenal, extraordinary, imo, 2003 (makes sense that's about when i joined ) Chan-wook Park masterpiece. Someone had it, but never used it so i got it and i do prefer OldBoy with the capital B. i know technically it is "Oldboy", but i like to emphasize this one with the B. so that's my name and that's how i like to be called. it reminds me of one of my first inane threads among the thousands and thousands i've created here.

but, this thread was special and nonsensical. just Oldboy as title and "see it now" as subject i believe. and "more later". i wish i could find that, but i would never know how to begin to search for that, maybe by title, but goes back a ways. Anyway, that's my story.

What's yours?

Re: Any story/reasoning behind your username?

Way back when, the Crow: City of Angels teaser teased one Michael Corvin returning to avenge his death. Only when the movie came out they changed the character to Ashe Corven. Everyone always uses Eric Draven (even our DVDtalk's own Draven & I used it in my Gamertags), so I wanted something Crow related but less obvious.

Years later this asshat from Underworld came along and ruined it. I assume someone in Hollywood had the same idea to make use of a little known Crow reference.

Re: Any story/reasoning behind your username?

I had a weekend job at a dive shop. One day a customer asked about a new dive computer we just got in the day before. I hadn't familiarized myself with it, so I opened the owner's manual and in bold print read MAX BOTTOM TIME. It reminded me of Max Headroom, and when I picked my first internet user name, it stuck.

First letter of my first and last name and I like the number 5. Not very imaginative but it's simple.

I had been on the internet a few years, and this time I wanted to choose a good name. I thought about it for a couple of days. My name is Nick, I still think Firesign Theater is kind of funny, Nick Danger sounds cool, and it's not common. For a long time, I was the only Nick Danger on the internet.

Re: Any story/reasoning behind your username?

I'm a Three Stooges fan. In the short "If a Body Meets a Body" Curly's uncle, Bob O. Link, has died and left his nephew, Curly Q. Link, a large inheritance. It's one of my favorites.

Larry Mink:
What's the "Q" stand for? Quincy?

Curly Q. Link:
No.

Moe Pink:
Quentin?

Curly Q. Link:
No.

Moe Pink:
Well then, what?

Curly Q. Link:
Cuff.

Larry Mink:
Oh... Cuff Link!

The system wouldn't take spaces and I didn't think of dashes so the "O" is capital with the apostrophe to help pronounce it right (a slight mispronunciation of the bird name). Both those names would regularly crack me up as a kid.

I was really into Blink 182 when I was 19 at the time I signed up. I missed the opportunity to change my name a few years back.

I bet that Abob Tef feels the same way. He chose a minor character that later got promoted to a well-known character.

Re: Any story/reasoning behind your username?

My home town and my initials.

Iím a huge fan of it but Iíve used it for so long itís easy to remember. I wouldnít mind changing it but when DVDTalk was offering name changes a few years ago I considered something new but I didnít like the idea of everyone changing their names so I stuck to my guns and kept the name.

I wondered if that might be the origin. I, too, find Firesign Theater funny.

Rococco, you slimy blackmailer, how did you get in here? You don't have a key!

Rococco: No, only half a key. I had to split it with the sound effects man.

First name, first letter of last name, and 007 because I was on a huge Bond kick when I joined.

My username is a variation of the username I used while exploring the wonders of my first internet chatroom in 1995.

A/S/L?

Iíve been Abob Teff more of my life than not. All the way back to the 10 hours of AOL on CDs. I had gotten into collecting Star Wars toys with the 1995 releases and found the AOL boards ... I was almost Tosche Station because I was trying to set up a collectorís group for reading vintage pieces for refurbishing old Star Wars toys.

My first internet experience went back a few more years than that on Heartland FreeNet though.

Joeblow69 was the name I used to use on old IRC channels #gayminnesota when I was trolling for sex. Also on gay.com when I was trolling for sex. Then eventually at AdultDVDTalk when I was a reviewer there, and then finally here. In retrospect it's kind of dumb. But oh well.

Got my current name because at one point, 60gb of data was such an astronomical amount. Funny thing since then I have used over 5tb (yes terabyte) before in a month
