The Mask Fashion/Bargain thread

Since it looks like we are going to be wearing masks for a while, I figured we should have a thread to show off our mask fashion, and list bargains for masks! I got my mask from ElectroThreads, with coupon they are only $10 each, but it literally took a month and a half for them to show up, so I wouldn't really order from them again. Looks cool, though, and has a "bendable wire thingy" that goes over your nose to help contour it to your face:

I know Threadless has a metric shit ton of masks, but $17 each seems a bit pricey to me. What else you got?

I wear one of those cooling gaiters by Mission. I find it easier to keep that around my neck and pull it up as needed when I get out of the car.

This thread makes me sad that I can't post links to some really great masks.

There's a death metal band that put out a mask that has a closeup picture of someone's butthole on the inside, so every time you put the mask on, you kiss the butthole. Stuff like that?

With posts like this the "Are cargo shorts thread" just might have some real competition

I really want a Deadpool mask, but I can't find a good one. I do like this Capt. America mask.

I've been thinking about getting some MLB SF Giants masks - 3 for $25 at MLB Shop

Otherwise, I just have disposal and custom made plain masks that my cousin made

Re: The Mask Fashion/Bargain thread

Our neighbor across the street makes great masks, usually $5 suggested donation. They have a pocket inside to slip in a coffee filter or other additional layer plus have a sturdy wire inside the seam at the nose bridge to contour it so as to not fog up glasses. They're very comfy.

She sent us swatches to decide on. Obviously I went with Star Wars.

I make masks (okay mask--I've made one whole mask) that look a lot like the one in story's pic. I put those PM 2.5 activated charcoal filters in the pocket. I do have to get on it though--more and more people in the house are venturing out and the disposables we've been reusing are looking pretty sad.

I was thinking about getting the Cubs masks, but I can't justify giving my money to corporations capitalizing on a national tragedy.

Re: The Mask Fashion/Bargain thread

No need to PAY for any masks. I've gotten mine for free from kindly people, agencies, and stores. In a very real way, this amiable effort has been their "contribution" to the COVID-19 fight. That's the good news. Now, I'll try to actually wear the masks when going out on essential errands. That's the hard part.

I have a blue plaid mask that a friend made. She made a basket of them to donate to the Navajo Nation, who got hit harder than almost anyone else. She gave us a pair.

I keep one in the car, one in my go bag, and two in my bedroom. Wash as needed. Helps me not forget them if I have them in multiple places.

Any masks that actually emulate The Mask (Jim Carrey not the other movie). A neon green would be kinda cool with the big teeth.

Thatís similar to what I wear as well. I look like Iím about to rob you but itís really convenient to wear. If Iím running a number of errands I just throw it around my neck and pull it over my face when I need it.

Also, like JTH182 said, Iíve considered buying a Broncos or Rockies mask but something doesnít feel right about a them capitalizing on them. Although, I have seen where some sports organizations will donate the proceeds to charity.

Yes, I keep 'em in the car, on the hutch, by the door, in the trunk / glove compartment, have extras on hand for all sundry masking requirements.

Re: The Mask Fashion/Bargain thread

I have to wear a mask at work when I'm not in the control room or someone else is in the control room. I'm usually the only one in there. We even have to wear masks in the bathroom and there's only one person allowed at a time in the bathroom now... My supervisors gave everyone three cloth masks. I bought 10 for $25 at Old Navy. I'm glad I don't have to wash masks every 2-3 days now. I also ordered 4 Marvel themed masks from Disney, but they're not shipping until July. I don't like wearing masks, but I wear them to protect myself and others.

Do not get the TeeFury ones, they have non-elastic straps and are built terribly.

What band did that?

Speaking of metal, I ordered some albums from the website of a band I listen to and they included two free masks with their logos on them. Part of me wants to wear them but the diehard collector in me demands that I keep them "mint" and stick them in the record sleeve or something. That part of me is an illness that I'll never be cured of.

Re: The Mask Fashion/Bargain thread

The gaiters seem to be working a lot better for me, and I can quickly confirm to the societal freaky deaky if a business requires it. Working on updating my avatar to reflect this.

Do the gaitors stay on? I haven't bought any of them, but I have a bandanna and I can't get it stay on. I keep having to adjust it to the point that I won't wear it anymore.
