A slow hurricane like Harvey or Florence is bad. Hope this one becomes weaker and moves away from coast.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that gif of the reporter getting hit with the flying stop sign is a fake.

All the counties by me have closed the schools for Tuesday. Some are going to close on Wed. The spaghetti models are looking a bit better for the west coast of FL, but you never know.

Just about all the models show the core of Dorian staying off the east coast of FL. Much more encouraging than just a couple of days ago.

Still to early, but some models have it missing US all together.

Which is crazy after all that has been reported.

Guess some low pressure zone that was holding it south has dissipated and “at some point” is going to make a hard right.

As of the latest advisory the winds are sustained at 180 mph. It's slowing even further and is likely going to sit over the Bahamas for nearly 2 days. Dorian is now a Cat5.

I just saw that. With gusts up to 220! There are few if any structures designed to withstand 180-220 winds. Most damage from hurricanes comes from flooding. But when u get to the cats 4-5 the winds get nasty!

Been on stand bye since Friday. Waiting to see where I go!

if you are involved in repairing infrastructure, stay the hell away from Tampa.

Amazing how it's barely moved in 24 hours. It's gone about 35 miles. It's nickname should be SitNSpin.

Remember hurricane Mitch? It paused over Central America for days. It dropped 50 inches of rain on Nicaragua. The floods did enormous damage and killed eleven thousand people. I hope Grand Bahama is okay.

So now it looks like half of Great Abaco Island is gone, and what's left has very few standing structures. Now it's headed to Florida.

Is it bad that I'm hoping it wipes Mar-a-lago off the map too? Shit, take Doral while you're at it. He still owns that place too, right?

Oh yeah, that's a genius wish. Then the taxpayers pay out millions for the repairs and it's BIGGER and BETTER than ever the next time.

Think before you wish, plz.

Lot of rain in Orlando now.

It was nice and breezy most of the day.

Lots of people are hunkered down at work right now. Hopefully it doesn't get here in the morning and I'll get to go home. At least we get free food courtesy of FEMA.

I have some friends with a second home on Treasure Cay. They arenít even sure itís there anymore. Getting ahold of some of their friends through satellite phones but not all. What a mess.

Wow you guys didn't all unite and pray? Have you all combined your praying powers the hurricane would have kindly left to another direction leaving every territory unharmed.

Wait, now I'm confused. Are hurricanes defeated via thoughts and prayers or nukes?

Re: Hurricane Season 2019

I don't normally pray but I did this time and it did move away from the bad spots shortly after so I am fully to thank for this positive outcome. For a small donation (around $50m) I'll consider doing it again for the next storm. Any less than that isn't really worth my time and energy. 30 seconds might seem like a quick time to you but there's a lot of preparation and stuff that goes into that AND I make sure not to waste the contact by also wishing other things at the same time (like my cable company deciding NOT to raise rates by 3%, and for my cat to catch the fly that's been bothering me). So send those donations promptly and let's all together make this world a better place.

Otherwise you hate kittens, and puppies, and babies and stuff.
