Kansas City BBQ, good places that won't cost a fortune?

I know KC is famous for their BBQ, we may be stopping there for the night and we love some good BBQ.

Is everything politics now?

There must be a place there that would throw out Sarah Sanders.

(I know, wrong forum.)

Kansas BBQ is made by Commies.

I recommend looking for the establishments with filthy canopies doors and windows.

I'm pretty sure this is the right forum -- the merits of Kansas vs. Texas vs. Carolina BBQ is religious in its intensity and fervor.

Where are you staying in town? Than I can tell you good places close to where you are, and what the prices look like? My favorites are Jack Stack, Arthur Bryant's, and closer to me in Kansas are Hayward's and Zarda.

Kinda funny that on the local news stations' Facebook pages, most of the time there will be some discussion on the topic. But if they post "What's the Best BBQ in Kansas City," they'll be 500 comments.

If you like baked beans then you need to go to Jack Stack. Bobby Flay called them the best in the world. He's not wrong.

Their cheesy corn bake is really, really good, too.

Arthur Bryant's and Gates are respectable for their meats but I don't find their sides to be anywhere near the level of Jack Stack.

Depends on one's interpretation of 'fortune'.

Re: Kansas City BBQ, good places that won't cost a fortune?

I would say $10-15 is the typical cost of eating per person at any BBQ restaurant in town as long as you don’t order Ribs. Jack Stack would probably be the most expensive place to go.

Lots less than $80 Mexican food.

Not American bbq, but Japanese bbq can get kind of up there if you pick good cuts of beef or use wagyu. Though that's grilling and not bbq.

Yeah, Japanese (and Korean) BBQ are a whole different ball of wax (but a very delicious one that I prefer over American BBQ )

Definitely my favorite although I agree that the sides at Jack Stack are the best in town. Not the meat though.
