Just brushing up on my Evil Deeds...

Emily Dickinson's use of the common meter enables one to sing pretty much all of her poems to the tune of Gilligan's Island.

Because I could not stop for Death
He kindly stopped for me
The Carriage held but just Ourselves
And Immortality

Omg. I just tested this out, and it's true.

God damn you.

A bird came down the walk:
He did not know I saw;
He bit an angle-worm in halves
And ate the fellow, raw.

They can also be sung to the tune of Amazing Grace, but that isn't as funny, but it is funny to sing Amazing Grace to the tune of Gillgian's Island.

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now I'm found.
'Twas blind, but now I see.

Dickinson's catalog can also be sung to Yellow Rose of Texas.

Re: Just brushing up on my Evil Deeds...

Or "The House of the Rising Sun"

And this is another good one to sing to Gilligan's Island:

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
