Converse slip-on question

I'm an old(er) guy looking for a casual slip-on shoe for around the house.
I usually wear Chuck Taylor hi-tops in the summer, but for just running outside for something or sitting on the patio I want something that's a little quicker to get on.

I'm not a sandal guy (HATE VISIBLE FEET, but that's my problem) so that's not an option.

I found these slip-on Converse Chucks:

Then my wife tells me those are girl's shoes, despite the unisex moniker.

So: the question is are these girl shoes?

Re: Converse slip-on question

Does it matter? If they are comfortable, and you like how they look, wear them.

They do not look like shoes where I would immediately think "those look like women's shoes".

No, it doesn't really matter to me.
I guess I was just wondering whether I was missing something that was common knowledge outside of my limited realm of t-shirts/cargo shorts.

What about Sperrys? They are slip on, and very comfortable. When I'm not working, that's all I wear.

I wouldn't call those the most masculine shoes in the world, but they're certainly not restricted to women only.

They aren't women's. Not sure why you're wife would think that. I've seen these sold in the men's section for years and even own some a few years ago. http://www.converse.com/us/en/regula...M9166_030.html

Another vote for the venerable topsider. A classic, comfortable shoe. And they're coming out with some neat Jaws tribute designs soon...

Re: Converse slip-on question

I had a pair of slip-on converse. They were size 13, so I doubt they're women's shoes.

Consider some LOCK LACES (or something similar) to expand your possibilities.

Re: Converse slip-on question

I have 2 pairs of sneakers/running shoes using those.

Got the first pair for my yard work since I put those on and off a lot and usually have gloves on.

Then got another pair to be lazy.

Had them about a year and they have held up so far. I've also seen some where there is an individual band for each eyelet set on the show.

Have you not seen Uma Thurman's feet?

I haven't. If only some director would capture them on film.

Re: Converse slip-on question

Yeah, not ladies shoes, but also not the most masculine shoes out there.
What about regular sneakers, and just tie knots in teh end of the laces? Thats what I do. Allows me to slip them on quickly, then gives me the option of tying or not tying th laces, depending on the situation. They are tight enough that they wont fall off, but loose enough to slip on and off easily.

I see lots of moms wearing shoes like these when I pick up my kids from school. Just saying.

Those are my favorite tennis shoes, I've been buying and wearing those off-and-on for years - they're just low-top Chuck Taylor's.

"slip-on" doesn't sound too masculine either.

Re: Converse slip-on question

I have two pairs of these. One is black with white stripes and the other is red with grey stripes. They're very comfortable for summer wear.

I don't know if they look feminine though. Seem like men shoes to me. I get a lot of compliments on the red ones.

Vans slip-ons are superior.

Re: Converse slip-on question

I always found shoes like these to be difficult to get on. Not enough room for the top of my foot to fit down through the "put shoe on" hole.
