Re: Xmas Loot?

This was a different Christmas for us, present-wise. One of my best friends is struggling mightily and their water heater went out, and they couldn't afford to get it replaced. So we spent $850 on repairing the floor where the old one sat, buying and paying for a new one to be installed for them. Therefore, we pretty much did a simple Christmas here. Helping someone who had a real need rather than just getting us more "stuff" felt pretty damn good.

I got some Hickory farms cheese and beef sticks
a pair of fleece-lined jeans
a book called 100 Things Panthers Fans should know and do before they die
some t-shirts.

And the wife and I went in half and half on a new mattress and foundation.

Re: Xmas Loot?

Blanket
Pajama pants
Socks
~$50 in Visa gift cards
Flashlight (NOT fleshlight)

It looks pretty lame here, but I like getting socks and pajama pants. I still have one more family Christmas, so I'll see what happens there. With that family, homemade food is typically given, so I would expect more of that this year.

We usually sponsor several poor kids who are on a local "Angel Tree", but when we found out about them not having hot water, we set down as a family and decided that this was what we all wanted to do. We'll cut back on stuff for a few months to pay for it.

tommy, that's a really good thing you did for your friend. You sacrificed your own family's Christmas for someone important in your life. Kudos to you man.

Re: Xmas Loot?

I really don't get a lot because I buy stuff during the year. But it's more for my son.

That being said I got some really unique things, my wife and others are very creative:

Elysium Blu-Ray
Kick-Ass 2 Blu-Ray
Alarm clock
A gumball/candy dispenser
A back scratcher
A Fridays gift card
A Cheesecake Factory gift card

I'd feel kind of like an ass listing my Christmas loot after tommyp007's post.

Kudos to you, sir. You followed through on the true meaning of Christmas.

Re: Xmas Loot?

Personally, I think tommyp007 is trying to show off.

Not much. Wife and I make pact not to buy much. She got me a new camping tent. My parents in-laws gave us money months ago to buy a new Christmas tree. My parents paid to have my yard cleaned up. That was nice and practical. They also got me at 27" computer monitor, which is nice.

Re: Xmas Loot?

A couple items I can consume and one needed item which I'm perfectly good with. Aside from art or useful practical items I don't really need random stuff.
