...sigh...puts on Trekkie hat

It's from the Star Trek The Next Generation episode "Disaster". The three top winners of the ship's school science fair get to meet with Captain Picard. This kids project was growing radishes in different types of soil, to understand how things grow. So, it's not surprising that some of them wouldn't work quite right, that's kinda how experiments go.

He was made Executive Officer of Radishes when the titular disaster struck the ship, and Picard made him and the other two children honorary officers to keep their morale up.

Someone please tell me that's photoshopped. I don't care if an Olympic gold medallist for clean and jerk or Schwarzenegger in his prime were doing the lifting - putting a baby in the middle of that situation is grounds to have the kid taken away in my opinion.

The McDonalds and KFC signs floating around are fakes. But the Wendy's signs are real.

World's largest Wendy's franchise owner stands with Chick-fil-a after controversy

Darn, that spicy chicken guacamole sandwich was pretty good. Oh well, one less place to choose from.

Plus, the way he read the line was absolutely hilarious.

I'm glad I missed that one.

But, seriously, radishes will grow anyfuckingwhere. Sometimes you have to water them, but the basic process of growing radishes is: Spill the seed packet. Don't mow there.

The only way they would "come up all weird" would be if you were growing them in zero G, in a strongly fluctuating magnetic field, in hydro gel, rather than soil. (You might have to add some ionizing radiation, too, for worst results) But then, Star Trek has never been known for its scientific accuracy.

From what I hear, TNG got worse than that before it died.

It wasn't that bad an episode. Data lost his head and Worf got to deliver Chief O'Brien's baby.

As Meglos said, it's actually not that bad. It's not really a "moral of the week" episode, more of a "let's throw some shit at the crew and see how they react" episode. Troi has a really head-bangingly stupid line near the beginning, but there's a lot of other really enjoyable scenes (including Riker making fun of Picard to his face, and somehow managing to not get thrown out an airlock).

TNG was starting to slow down towards the end, but as a whole it's still probably one of the best damn TV shows ever made.

And "Masks" is awesome.
