33 is the happiest age according to study
33 is the happiest age of people's lives: survey
Age 33 is the best year of our lives, a new survey has found.
A British website, Friends Reunited, says that 70% of people over 40 picked that age as their happiest.
Just 6% said they were content during their college years, the site reported.
And only 16% pined for their childhood years.
One in three surveyed found their happiness in having children, while only one in five linked their sense of joy to their job.
“The age of 33 is enough time to have shaken off childhood naivete and the wild scheming of teenaged years without losing the energy and enthusiasm of youth,” psychologist Donna Dawson said.
“By this age innocence has been lost, but our sense of reality is mixed with a strong sense of hope,” she added. “We have yet to develop the cynicism and world-weariness that comes with later years.”
Tell that to Mrs. Tom Cruise, the paparazzi-evading Katie Holmes. She’s 33.
So is actress Jennifer Love Hewitt and Maroon Five frontman Adam Levine.
Christine Possemato, 35, from Springfield N.J., agrees that 33 was a very special and sexy year.
“It's the sex, definitely,” said Possemato, who is single. “You’re hitting your stride. You’re a lot more confident and you can attract younger guys.”
But Grant Hunter, 41, who lives in Pennsylvania with his wife and family, says he’s loving his 40s, watching his two kids grow up.
“I feel like the best years are ahead of me,” Hunter said. “Did I have a lot of fun and get wasted? Sure. But I’m happier now than I’ve ever been.”

It's bullshit, a chunk of my friends were 33 last year and it was absolute hell for most of them. What they ignore is in this economy, 33 is also the age where you realized just how fucked you got when the housing market dipped. So while it may be 33 for people over 40 now, it certainly isn't 33 for people in their 30s now.
Just another perspective haha.

33 was a great year for me. I had just gotten out of a 6-year relationship the year before so I was single, professional (Managing Director of a IT Development firm), making great money, dating and carousing all over the place, vacationing a lot between clients, went back to school to get my MBA... that was a great year
I'm 41 now, married, life has calmed down considerably and I'm happy, but 33 was definitely an exciting year

Jesus Christ begs to differ.

In my own case, 33 was an extremely happy year. I had just gotten out of a horrible relationship, did some traveling on my own and started over as an independent woman. I look back on that year (1998) as a very good one.

32 was probably the best year of my adult life so far (34 now), but for pure, unadulterated happiness, it's tough to beat 13 or 14. I grew up in a neighborhood with a lot of kids my age and everything was an adventure back then.

That gives me about a year and a half to get out of my under-water (financially) condo and get a promotion. Time to start working...

Cool, I turn 33 in September. How should I celebrate the kick-off of the best year of my life?

I'm going to disagree. I'm 33 right now. We just had our second child. I'm not getting any sleep. It is miserable. Maybe I'll change my mind once I start getting sleep again.

I turn 35 this month, and I can honestly say that the last 2 years have been among the roughest of my life. If that's as happy as I get, Otter can expect a lot of complaining from me in the next few years. A friend of mine posted this article on her Facebook not long ago, and someone else posted as a response another article saying it was 35. I prefer to believe that one, which means I have another couple of weeks to get myself in a position to have a happy 35.

Thirty-three was nice because that's when I bought my house; forty-eight might be nice too because I should have it paid off around that time.

He tore the gates off Hell, came back from the dead, and ascended bodily into heaven. I'd like to have a year half that good.
In my case, things were starting to brighten when I was 33, but life didn't get good for another 3 or so years.
