Recommended/best souvenir from Pittsburgh/Western PA for home bar?

I'm looking for a good souvenir from Western Pa or Pittsburgh to put up in my home bar. Maybe a painting or photo, but of what?

I have a home bar that is decorated with all sorts of stuff, but mainly from my travels as I work out of town a lot. I have a large pint glass collection for example.

But whenever I spend a lot of time in one place (as opposed to moving around from place to place) I try to pick up something a little more significant. For example, after spending 9 months in New Orleans, I picked up a great large water color of one of the oldest bars in the US.

I've now been working in Greensburg (about 45 minutes outside of Pittsburgh) for the last 7 months. It has also been the first time in this particular role. So I'm looking for something a little more significant than a pint glass (got one) and a Terrible Towel (got one). Ideas? Suggestions?

Hey not bad...only issue is I've only eaten there twice as I didn't think that good (plus hard to eat healthy there). I actually liked the coal slaw on the sandwiches, but not the fries on top of that.

But great idea...recognizable, colorful and fun...and while the original is in Pittsburgh there is one in Greensburg (where I'm staying).

how about a Lombardi trophy? They've got a bunch of 'em already. They'll never miss one.

An Iron City Beer sign would be nice for a bar. Or Stoneys. You can lie to people and tell them it's an exotic microbrew.

BTW, if you've been living in Greensburg, I hope you've hit the Sunset Cafe and the Headkeeper Tapas Bar.

Have not been to Sunset. Will have to check it out.

Yea..pretty much live at Headkeeper. Without a doubt one of the best bars I've ever found (any where). Tho not near as a good with the patio closed and since they changed the menu. I've meant the owner and would love something from there. But they don't really sell stuff like that.

Also love their sister restaurant of J. Corks.

My recent favorite is One Eleven. We always just sit at the bar, but great food, and friendly.

There are several other "ok" bars.

Being a huge Pens fan, I suggest something bar/Penguins related:

If you want Pittsburgh and not just sports:

Yea...sports is an obvious thing. Of course being in Dallas hard to put anything up Pittsburgh related. Besides, I already got me a Terrible Towel.

I like the idea of bar or beer related. Or something representing the "Steel City".

It pains me to suggest this because I don't like the beer, but are you a fan of Yuengling? It's not really Pittsburgh, but it is PA. And, it's the oldest microbrewery in the country. That seems like a good fit for your home bar.

Alternately, if you've visited the Church BrewWorks, something with their logo and "On the 8th day, Man created beer" might also be cool.

Maybe something from Penn Brewery? That's the brewery I most closely associate with Pittsburgh.

I'm on your side! But, that's the way they bill themselves. Kinda like Miller being triple hopped.

Why don't you just kidnap one of the homeless drunks...they'd be more than happy to hang out in your bar.

Re: Recommended/best souvenir from Pittsburgh/Western PA for home bar?

Nice suggestions....Yea...I hate Yuengling...but as you say nice fit.

I have been to the Church Brewery. I have a pint (actually Pilsner) glass from them. I might check to see if they have posters or prints. Ideally a print of the interior as that is awesome. The exterior is nice too.

Also need to stop by the Palace Theater in Greensburg and see if they have anything. One of the best nights I've had here included seeing a show.

See that is the "perfect" souvenir. One that not only shows the city/area I spent a lot of time at, but brings back fun and/or good stories.

Re: Recommended/best souvenir from Pittsburgh/Western PA for home bar?

Dawn of the Dead was filmed in the Monroeville Mall. This is a DVD site right? I don't know how that relates to souvenirs but it's an interesting tidbit. I've wanted to go out there when I'm in Pittsburgh but I don't get there too often anymore (thank god).

The Andy Warhol museum in Pittsburgh is cool and you'd proably find some cool tchotchke in there.

And Yuengling is some fine brew. It's just a huge brewery and not a microbrewery by any stretch.

You might be able to find some authentic Iron City signs for sale. The brewery won't be needing them anymore.

http://beerstreetjournal.com/iron-ci...gh-brewing-co/

The name change is official Iron City Brewing is now Pittsburgh Brewing Company. The brewery announced on Facebook today that they have switched over to the new name, logo, etc.

Iron City Brewing was started back in 1861 by a young German immigrant named Edward Frauenheim. The steel industry in Pittsburgh has propelled the success of the brewery since then. They will continue to produce their regular beers including two of their most popular, Iron City and IC Light.

Looks like they will still sell beer under the Iron City name though. I would have been shocked otherwise. People out there actually drink that piss.
