My Sick Dog

If it was just me, I wouldn't bother you nice people with my problems. But my dog, and only friend, Sara, has suddenly gotten very sick today. She just lays around, not eating. I don't know if anyone here is religious or believes in GOD, but if you do, would you please pray for her recovery ? As well as my mom's spirits. She is very upset about all of this and has been crying. Like I said, if this was just me, I would bother you. But my mom is really upset and could use your prayers and good wishes. Thank you.

I think a vet might be able to do more than god. Just sayin'.

All the best, though.

Re: My Sick Dog

God wanted me to let you know that your dog is going to be just fine, so don't worry.

Re: My Sick Dog

Maybe she's just having a bad day or is tired. One day of odd behavior doesn't necessarily mean anything. My dog acts weird every now and then but by the next day is perfectly fine.

By the way, my vet told me that it's totally normal for dogs to go an entire day without eating and/or barely drinking. They're not wired like people, so if she goes one day without eating or drinking that doesn't necessarily means she's sick.

I don't really like dogs, but I will do my part. But then that seems like common courtesy.

Re: My Sick Dog

I think you need to stop worrying about the dog and start worrying about your friend Sara!

Don't be pricks, you guys. And Spottedfeather: if she still acts sick tomorrow, please take her to the vet. Please. Many vets will work out payment plans and if she is sick she needs help.

Re: My Sick Dog

I'm just hoping Sara isn't the real world version of Gwyneth Paltrow from 'Contagion'.

Here's hoping the OP isn't already dead!

A dog not eating? Are you missing any squeaky toys?

This.

Any follow up, OP? Like others have said, it's not unusual for a dog to go a day or two without eating. Mine does that often. But if you really think the animal is acting strangely, you really would be better off taking it to a vet rather than soliciting prayers on a message board.

Also, sometimes if it is really hot, dogs will lose their appetite and not eat.

Oh yeah? If the dog is fine today, then that proves that prayers work better than doctors.

Re: My Sick Dog

Well, the day after I wrote, she died. Apparently, she had a tumor in her stomach that we had no clue about. She, of course, had problems. She had diabetes, but aside from that always seemed fine. It just happened all of a sudden and without warning. I want to thank the few of you weren't totally inconsiderate of other peoples' feelings. Superdeluxe, Vibiana, Whotony, aktick, and NickDanger in particular.

Re: My Sick Dog

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have grown up around dogs so I know what people mean when they say that dogs (or cats) are like part of your family. I had lost my childhood dog about 2 years ago. It was awful. Our family had a real hard time but eventually moved on and got a rescue dog just a few months ago. Hang in there.
