There's pluses and minuses to going out casually with a few women versus a steady girlfriend. Right now I think I'd prefer the girlfriend, but I'm not forcing anything.

I will bet you $100 that Inception will get Best Picture of 2010. I will say that its a movie that takes a few viewing to really appreciate it.

I wouldn't take that bet; I also believe people deserve what they vote for. Besides, who gives a shit what anyone else thinks about movies? I mean, as far as re-forming a new opinion of a film? Your own personal enjoyment (or lack thereof) should be your only barometer, my friends.

Still no permanent whore ... errr ... serious gf.

I got burnt out from working so much for the past five years and feel like I was less productive this year.

Mid-term elections. Same old shit. People turned around again.

Wives are very much not understanding of that situation. In America, at least - in Europe they just get called mistresses, and they get dental and everything. They know how to live over there.

So my big disappointment: yeah, no girlfriend. Not a surprise, I'd imagine.

Re: Your Biggest Disappointments of 2010?

Sheesh, compared to many of you, I had a great year! Same great boyfriend, same sane roommate in a great place to live, lots of fun times with friends, lots of Disneyland visits.

My big Disappointment was work-related: after being unemployed (couldn't find a job) for AGES, I got what I thought was a great job in late 2009... which fired me in Jan. 2010. More hopeless jobhunting, got a job with the Census, was laid off (as was everyone) over the summer. Got a job in August that turned out to be a bait-and-switch, literally worked me 80 hours the first week (after a promised 40 hours, no more). Was offered a new job so I left the 80-hours job (turning down yet another job in the process)... and it turned out to be the boss in hell, virtually no consistent hours, hours completely ran out end of November, and he laid me off a week before Christmas. Asshat.

Good news is, I found two jobs (one half-time, another about 10 hours a week) for MUCH better pay, the week before Christmas! I've only worked both for about a week, but I love them so far, and I know the main-job boss from church, so I have hope that she's not insane.

Bad news is, I audited my last few paychecks from my last loser boss (I was a consultant, not an employee, and he wrote me checks based on my timekeeping spreadsheet), and he's shorted me a total of 50+ hours, to the tune of $800 (!!!), the lying cheating bastard. Yes, I should have realized it earlier, but I honestly didn't think he was cheating me. Now I'm fighting him to get my EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS out of him, which looks to be headed towards small claims. Sigh.

The whole year was a disappointment, punctuated by a total of one hour, maybe, of actual joy.

Re: Your Biggest Disappointments of 2010?

No girlfriend or dates for a third year running since the ex left
Got my mandatory two surgeries in (scoped knee and vericose vein removal)
Partially tore my rotator and am just now getting back to where I was 8 months ago
Ruptured a bursa sac in my ankle
Worked twice as hard at my job for the same 0 recognition
Put on 30 pounds from my 15 year low of 238
Was given 6 months to live in June, promptly withdrew from society in general, found out I didn't have bone cancer 3 months in.....after multiple scans, tests, and a round of chemo. Just have osteoporosis at 28.
Got mercury and arsenic poisoning in May
Discovered my general melancholy and fatigue was the result of having 1/10th of the testosterone level for a guy my age.

Plus sides for the year:
Took up drinking.
Am on prescribed happy fun time drugs for the depression
Am on steroids for the testosterone drop

The lives of some are to live as warnings to others. Glad I can be of assistance. :P

I forgot to add in that in January my dad was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in his spine, a bone marrow cancer that affects around 20,000 people a year and isn't cureable. Of those, 18,500 are black males over the age of 60, 1,250 are female of any ethnicity, and then 250 are white dudes. My dad is a white guy under 60. When they thought I had cancer in June, I was diagnosed with this same cancer in the same spot. Myeloma's only treatment is to amputate the infected bone. Can't amputate the spine, so kinda fucked on that end.

Thanks. I'm on a high now. Maybe I'll even stop by Wal-Mart to buy something and then get a bite to eat at a buffet.

My Dad was diagnosed with cancer this year. As of right now, it's not a big deal (not spread out anywhere, he will likely live another 20 years or something). But it was still kind of a bummer.

Re: Your Biggest Disappointments of 2010?

2010 was the worse year of my life...and that is saying something after all the crappy years I've experienced. My marriage is pretty much done with, I hate my job and my career is one big laugh. I am stuck in a crappy apartment as I can't afford to move out...and I could go on an on....

I need to make a major change in my life in 2011...I hope I can do it without depression stopping me.
