What's good @ Five Guys?

so by some blind stroke of luck or unluck, however you look at it, i bumped into a Five Guys burger and fries joint when taking my clothes to a new dry cleaner near my house. didn't go in however...yet.

i've heard they are really good with their burgers and fries (obviously, since that is mostly what they do). true?

never had one near me, but people seem to rave.

anything particularly good or not good?

They have burgers, fries, and hot dogs. You don't really have much to choose from.

Not sure what else you are asking. It's not that special.

My usual order...

Cheeseburger (by default, its a double) with mayo, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, jalapenos and bacon
Fries
Big ass drink of some sort.

and Spainlinx0 is right, it'll sit on you for awhile

Re: What's good @ Five Guys?

they started expanding here in town so i checked them out a few weeks ago. i wasn't terribly impressed, but I will say it was better than most fast food hamburgers (outside of in 'n out). i will give them mad props for the generous portion of fries they give you.

Re: What's good @ Five Guys?

Get a small burger (unless you're REALLY hungry) with whatever suits you, I like lettuce, tomato, mushrooms and mayo. I don't recommend cheese as it can be quite overpowering. Even their smallest order of fries is enormous.

Re: What's good @ Five Guys?

Everyone raves about Five Guys here and claim it puts In & Out to shame in terms of California fast food, but I've never tried it. We just got out first one here a couple of months ago and there were lines out the door to order. I don't know if every location is like the one here but there is no drive-thru and you have to go inside to order. Seemed like a run of the mill burger joint.

The one thing is that it sounds like it's a Subway for burgers. You pick all the toppings and condiments to go on your burger.

Re: What's good @ Five Guys?

Not sure it's fair to compare it to In&Out, although I'm only faintly familiar with the chains.

Isn't I&O fairly cheap, like a McDonalds, where as Five Guys is closer to a Fuddruckers or Red Robin in price?

My local Five Guys charges $5.59 for a cheeseburger + $2.59 for fries. The local Red Robin charges $8-$10 a burger (includes fries). So they're fairly similar in price.

Re: What's good @ Five Guys?

Someone else started a Five Guys thread not too long ago. Pretty much what was said there is being said here. The "little" burger is a regular size burger with one patty. A burger has 2 patties. Don't order it with "everything" unless you like a really messy burger.

You must be new here. Scott's DVDTalk has searching disabled.

Sorry Scott, couldn't resist. Imo there can never be enough fast food threads.

Re: What's good @ Five Guys?

I'd recommend their burgers in particular.

May also consider giving their fries a whirl.

Re: What's good @ Five Guys?

I am a fan of their Hot Dog with Cheese and Bacon, so much so that I haven't ever ordered one of their burgers.

Also, I agree with the above poster that they are very generous with their fresh fries.

Search by posts, not by thread. There's been tons of talk about Five Guys here. It usually pops up in the In-N-Out threads.

Re: What's good @ Five Guys?

Just had it for the first time on Saturday night and I came away unimpressed. The fries were great because of the peanut oil but the burger was basically a fresh Wendy's burger.

You can eat there if you can find a seat. Mine is always packed.

Five Guys is good. But I don't think they're the best burger in town. And I really don't like their fries. Personally, I prefer the Thickburgers at Hardees.

Errythang is good at 5 guys.

Their burgers are nothing like the micro-burgers that Wendy's now seems to serve.

Re: What's good @ Five Guys?

We have several new Five Guys moving into the area, ready to compete with another other newcomer, recent start up Bagger Dave's. I haven't tried Five Guys yet, but I have to say Bagger Dave's will give them a huge run for the money. On top of it, Dave's has a bar with craft beer. Second in the area I think is Cheeburger (I refuse to say it twice). However, I do look forward to trying Five Guy's soon to see where they rank.

For me, Red Robin has good fries, but I really don't think their burgers are that great. I've tried In-N-Out a few times, and I would love to have one in Michigan.
