E-Cigarettes - anyone here try them?
I'm considering switching to these to save money. I've heard it only cost $50/mo for the start-up kit and about $15+ a month for the "juice" for the cigs.
Any pros and cons?
One of the guys I work with has one and let me take a hit off of it and it was almost like smoking a regular cigarette.

Christ people, I hear enough of the anti-smoking garbage IRL where it's barely even allowed in the streets anymore. Please keep on topic, for the love of god. No one who clicks on this thread gives a shit if you are against smoking. Go away. Go plant a tree or eat some gluten-free cookies or something.
Nothing insults me more than people telling me how to spend my money. *spit at feet*
I'm interested to hear about e-cigarettes. I have a buddy at work that swears by them.
The only reason the government would make them illegal is pressure from lobbyists from both the tobacco companies and the companies that make nicotine gum/patches... because it eats into their business.
The same reason that clove cigarettes are now illegal... companies that weren't Big Tobacco were in control of the market (IE: Djarum) so they tie smoking cloves to increasing youth smoking (because they're flavored) to get them out of the market. Of course, Menthols are still perfectly legal. Pfft.

And the government got a major setback on that just a few weeks ago.

i looked into them. they seem to be a major hassle and expensive since they constantly break. if you only care about saving money then get some loose tobacco, filter tubes and a rolling machine. costs about 10 bucks a carton and only takes 5 minutes to make a pack of cigs. i can give you more info to get you started if you want to.
there are a few e-cig forums. read them and see what a pain in the ass they are.

My wife and I both do. We have the Blu-cigs, and like them quite a bit. My wife has not had a "regular" cigarette in almost 6 months, and it's helped me go from a pack a day to about a 1/3 pack. They are pretty inexpensive compared to regular cigs, and it is nice to not smell of smoke all the time. I've been a smoker for over 23 years, so they seem to be helping in cutting way back. As much as I like them, there's still an urge several times a day that only a Camel can satisfy.
The wife got them initially, and has more experience with them. If you have questions, I'll let her log on and answer them.

I can't understand why anti-smoking advocates would be against these. It's almost like they want regular tobacco to stick around. Here is the head of the organization's quote...
Mr. Myers said e-cigarettes posed several potential serious risks to public health, including lack of controls on potency, a means to discourage current smokers from quitting by providing an alternative in smoke-free spaces and the possibility “these products could serve as a pathway to nicotine addiction for children.”

A safer way to enjoy an illicit substance? Sorry, but if it provids enjoyment, and has any chance of being dangerous it needs to be banned.
See cigarettes, pot, fatty foods, soda. It's all going away.

It's cool RobLutter.
I don't smoke or advocate smoking, but I found this thread to be very interesting. I'd seen adverts online about e-cigs but I thought it was some kind of internet scam, lol.
The first thing that came to mind was the tobacco industry and their big money. I can't see them standing for this product unless they were able to market their own flavoring and since they break, they could still make money for replacements.
It seems to be a great idea for especially for those who live in households where there's a non-smoker.

Plus, if everybody would quit smoking today, Medicaid would collapse due to having to cover the additional years that these people wouldn't have been alive before.

Now, for the e-cigs. I haven't tried these yet, but was tempted. Are you actually getting nicotine from them?
As for another new alternative, I did try the Camel Snus product. I like it just fine, but the wife gives me heck for it. There's no spitting, she just doesn't like it.

It is a good time of the year to plant a tree. Last fall I moved to a new house, have planted a Red Bud and a Red Maple. This spring I plan on planting at least a couple more trees, the former owner never went outside thus never did anything with the yard.
