Where is the coolest place you have ever been alone?

I was wondering, where is the coolest place you have ever been by yourself where you would not ordinarily be alone?

Mine: Disneyland

I used to work at Disneyland when I was in high school. One night, I worked a very late shift and got off work about an hour or so after the park closed. Obviously, there were some other employees working in the park somewhere.

I walked through Critter County through Adventureland, to Main Street, and then Tomorrowland without seeing a single person. It was a pretty cool feeling, and an experience that very few have ever had.

Good grief that's a tough one...

Probably on the living ranch in Wyoming. One time in winter, I think it was '97, I sat in the outdoor hot tub in a blizzard with a few joints and some 25 year Macallan. Became night as I soaked. I'll never forget that.

It didn't get above -15 for around 3 weeks and snowed the entire time basically. That whole month of January up there was amazing. Guests came in the last week of January and stayed through Feb.

Hopi point alone, well with a tarantula, was pretty cool.

Dublin, Ireland.

If I had gone with anyone, it would not have been such an amazing experience.

Re: Where is the coolest place you have ever been alone?

I wandered around the inner-rooms of Bank One Ballpark (now Chase Field) years ago. The building was open, so my brother and I walked in.

Workers were taking down a stage from a concert on the field so they didn't care when we climbed down onto the field and into the dugouts. We then proceeded to explore the inner workings of the place.

We ended up in the visiting team's clubhouse and then some storage areas where they had samples of dirt, extra seats, etc... There was also a room with a bunch of files including blue prints to the stadium and other spring training facilities.

If I wasn't such an honest person I probably could have had some sweet souvenirs, lol!

A building next to the Capitol Records building in Hollywood. There were gold records from the Beatles, Beach Boys and Frank Sinatra on the wall. Anyone could have walked in and stolen them.
Scuba diving at Catalina Island once. I wanted to get some video of a sponge found only in deep water. I found one in over 200 feet. It was pretty nice being there alone, but a little scary at the same time.

Top of Mt Fuji.

Not just cool, it was very cold. Friends chickened out. It's hard to be "alone" anywhere in Japan, but that came close.

New York City, during a blizzard. It was Christmas Eve, or maybe a day or two before and I had Christmas shopping to do.

I took the subway to Macy's and got out of the 34th St. station and there was nobody on the street. Any direction I looked it was just the buildings, snow on the street, and me. New York is pretty cool without all the people.

14 days hiking though the South Island of New Zealand, my longest stretch without seeing anyone was 6 days. My wife was so jealous after seeing the photos I had to take her there 2 months later.

It was always fun having the movie theater to myself after hours when I worked in that business. I'd watch movies and yell back at the screen.

Working after hours here. I am sure I wasn't completely alone, but there was nobody to be seen.

I worked the graveyard shift watching construction crews due modifications to the old Yankee Stadium. I walked along the rafters below the upper decks. Saw Steinbrenners and Cashmens offices, the dugouts, batting practice area, umpires rooms, basically the catcombs of the stadium.

My "coolest place" story is similar to X, only because it was in NYC...

Was staying on 51st and Lexington, and my two friends back at the hotel were taking their sweet time getting up and ready for the day. So I told them to meet me at 5th Ave whenever they woke.

So, I was walking west on 51st, and had just crossed Madison Ave when some random dude tried to start talking to me. He was pretty much annoying, and honestly looked like the typical "buy my fake purses and Oakley sunglasses" street salesman. He actually patted me on the shoulder trying to convince me to stop, and I sort of threw his arm away and stared at him, like WTF are you doing man?

So...after walking about 20 feet, I thought to myself, "wait, did that guy really have a walkie-talkie in his hand? And why?" I was still a little put out by the dude and started to notice things around me were...different. As in, NOTHING was moving. There weren't any cars in the street at all. No one else on the sidewalk. I was slightly hungover from the night before, and suppose I didn't have all my wits at the time. I then noticed at the end of the block (where 51st crossed 5th) a car parked at an angle, halfway on the street and halfway on the sidewalk. Uh, something is different here.

I started to look around, and noticed two girls looking at me through a window of some jewelry or gift store. I looked at them like "what the hell is going on here?", and they motioned for me to come to the doorway. They explained I was on a live set of I Am Legend. Haha...literally seconds after they said that, I heard the word "CUT" spoken over a megaphone, followed by a bunch of applause. Of course, I didn't end up on film, because most of the action was going on in front of St Patrick's, but I did see Will Smith as he walked past me about 3 feet away just a minute after the scene cut. Thought it was pretty cool.
