Zotes Sunflower Seeds

Has anybody had Zotes sunflower seeds?

The Salt & Pepper are my favorite, and the Garlic are a close second. I don't really like the Beer Baked ones, but I seem to be in the minority which is why I included that picture.

I first found them in a little gas station by my work and have found that they are really hard to find locally. My wife got me a case for Christmas, and they told her that there is only 1 store in all southern California that gets them direct... anywhere else in the state and they are probably set to expire.

Anyway, They are really great seeds, good quality and good flavor. I recommend them to anyone.

I just got a coupon as well... "zotesfathersday" for free shipping on a $40+ order.

I also just realized that this feels like a troll post... I guaranty that I do not work for Zotes. I'm a traffic engineer who just happens to like their product and wants to see them grow as a company.

My favs are plain old salt flavor from Spitz brand. They are salty enough to be good, yet not over salted like David brand where your mouth is raw after 1/4 cup of them

I tried the Seasoning Salt flavor from Spitz at one point and they just had a weird taste.

For a true "mouth raw" experience, the Zotes Jalapeno flavor are insane.

FYI another coupon - "welcomeback" for $5 off all 12 bottle orders.

They are at our "brand" of 7-11 here in PA.

I prefer my mouth to be ripped to shreds by salt alone!

I would scare you all if I told you how many seeds I eat daily.....say hi to my kidney stones, from all that damn salt I'd bet.

Big fan of sunflower seeds here -- will have to give these a try (never heard of them).

RandyC 06-21-08 12:54 PM

Thanks, I ordered it appears enough for a year. They do taste good.

I'm partial to the "David" brand (especially bar-b-q  ) although I like Spitz also. I didn't like Delish. I'll have to try these ones. I love sunflower seeds because I work at night and this gives my mouth something to do besides eating burger, fries, tacos, burritos, and pizza that people order on a nightly basis. I don't like to bring food to work because the refrigerator smells. So this keeps me occupied while I watch movies :D

semi-related...but has anyone tried candy coated and dipped-in-chocolate sunflower seeds? I didn't even know they existed, but they had some in a candy store in our mall. Picture M&M's with a sunflower seed in the middle. Not bad...

So where's the one store in SoCal?

C-Mart 06-23-08 01:31 PM

IT is supposed to be in Hemet... but my wife forgot to ask which one. I'm hoping that will change... but I haven't even seen them in stores in months... and I almost always look whenever I am in a convenience store.

I was going to order 12 bottles (minimum order) and then that coupon would only work for $40 or more... so I ended up with 20 bottles.

They won't last as long as you think... my first case of 12 was gone in 3 months.

I love the dill pickle, but wasnt a fan of the nacho or hot wings. Those are the only flavors we get around here.

RandyC 06-23-08 02:30 PM

I have concluded I do not like beer flavor. Seems like old bar floor sweepings more than beer.

C-Mart 06-23-08 04:10 PM

Yeah, I don't like the beer flavor either. Some of my friends do though.

In the past to order Zotes you had to order a case, and it had to be one of their set mixes of flavors. I would never order it because I didn't want to pay for flavors that I knew I wouldn't like (beer, blue cheese, or dill pickle). My wife ordered it for me for Christmas last year. Right after that they started letting you order custom cases.

Re: Zotes Sunflower Seeds

I couldn't resist reviving an old thread. I am placing an order today and it will include Zotes new flavor - Jamaican Jerk. They have also announced (but not released) 3 other new flavors to be released throughout the year: Theater Style Popcorn, Wasabi-Soy, and Cinnamon-Sugar. I'm definately interested in the connamon-sugar ones, and I'm sure I will order at least a bottle of each of the other 2 flavors, but I don't expect that I will like them very much.

Yeah, but we're all done with sunflower seeds. Now, we want barbeque kumquat chips. Got any coupons for that?
