Also, the Big Mac is smaller in Australia, but bigger in Mexico. I don't know if they use American cheese there.

I always remember it having one slice.
Pictures like this always remind me of the film Falling Down, when he compares the pictures of the food to what you actually get. I've never received a big mac that looked this delicious.

Unless, like you, I'm subconciously blocking it...

Re: Are Big Mac's Supposed To Have 2 Slices Of Cheese Or Just 1?
This is really bugging me and in light of how the economy is going, I'm wondering if McDonald's is trying to find ways to rip customers off without them really noticing it. The past 2 times I've gotten a Big Mac at 2 completely different McDonald's (within the last month), both sandwiches only had 1 slice of cheese (on the bottom hamburger). A friend went to one of the same McDonald's and also got only 1 slice of cheese (confirming it wasn't just a random event). I know dairy product prices have really gone up for restaurants but if McDonald's is ripping off customers to save 1 slice of cheese on their signature sandwich that's pretty bad.
So am I completely wrong? Does the Big Mac only have 1 slice of cheese or should it have 2? Wikipedia says "2 all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun". No mention of how many slices of cheese.

McDonald's is making a major change to the Big Mac.
The Mac Jr. is a miniature version of the Big Mac with a single 1/6-pound burger patty. The Grand Mac features 66% more beef than the regular Big Mac, an extra slice of cheese, and a larger bun.The regular Big Mac has two 1/10-pound burger patties, three pieces of bread, and two slices of cheese, special sauce, lettuce, pickles, and onions. "The Big Mac is a legend and a great-tasting burger with hints of pickle relish, mustard, garlic and onions," McDonald’s Chef Mike Haracz said in a statement. "We listened to our customers who told us they wanted different ways to enjoy the one-of-a-kind Big Mac taste. The classic combination of ingredients remains timeless and customers around the world continue to enjoy its signature taste."
I'm pretty sure that this was after whoever you are that used to work at McDonald's. So, currently the Big Mac should have two slices of cheese. It won't let me provide the URL until I've made 30 posts but that information comes from businessinsider.com under the same title.

Didn’t they already do this a few years ago?
I still don’t understand how anybody can enjoy a bread sandwich with a wee bit of hamburger as a condiment.
More meat = move in the right direction. More meat + bigger bun ...

How did this thread exist 12 years ago without anyone posting a promo picture of a Big Mac from McDonalds that clearly shows one slice of cheese.?

Hmmm, let me remember the song..."Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun." Dammit, it doesn't say how much cheese!!

Up here I've been ordering the Denali Mac (formerly McKinley Mac) for years. Lately though, I've switched to the Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese. Naturally I add a Filet o' Fish or a McRib for dessert. [/unashamed]

I wish I could get a Quarter Pounder dressed as a Big Mac. I love the taste of the sauce, but not the form factor of the Big Mac.

I'm happy to see the Mac Jr. back. Hope it's still here after I've had my vaccine (we're on only home made food for now). Like milo bloom, what I really want is a quarter pounder with Big Mac sauce on it, though. I just don't want that third slice of bread because as far as sandwiches go, I am opposed to more than two slices of bread.

When did McDonalds come out with a spicy chicken sandwich?

According to one of their "executive chefs" there's no French dressing in the sauce. Here's the video of that chef and what one site says they created based on the video:
I think they're a bit off as he doesn't mention sugar in his video so take it for what it's worth.
This one is closer to the Thousand Island base most people think:
1/4 cup real mayonnaise
1 tablespoon + 2 teaspoons ketchup
1 tablespoon finely diced yellow onion
1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
2 teaspoons yellow mustard
1/4 teaspoon white vinegar
Tiny pinch cayenne pepper
And finally, one based on French dressing:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons French dressing
4 teaspoons sweet pickle relish
1 tablespoon finely minced white onion
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
They're all pretty similar - I've not tried any of them but do have copies for when I feel the need.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
- 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon white wine vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- Place all the ingredients in a medium bowl and whisk to combine.

I've mentioned the brand before. Just grab a bottle of this and you're good to go.

I worked for Big Boy back in the seventies. Every so often we'd run out of Big Boy sauce. Manager would have us mix thousand island dressing and mayo. He said it was the same thing. Nobody ever noticed or complained.
