NYC Otter Meet

<img src="http://www.fantasticdamage.com/blog/omeet.jpg">

As much as I see random meets discussed, they never seem to be in major towns, just some backwater podunk outpost like Wabash, Portland, or Arizona.

So... why not NYC? Say, June <s>21</s> 20? (Picking date out of hat).

I'm even afraid to mention it myself, as I am sure to curse it. <a href="http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=504910">My last "meet" in San Francisco</a> ended up with me by myself in a lesbian bar.

So, can we pull together on this one and make it a great success? Looks like we haven't <a href="http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=387719">tried to in 4 years</a>.

I hope no one shows up and it's just you at a bar where they only serve moldy, cold corndogs and warm US beer.

I can't stand the NYC otters, why would I want to meet them?

But seriously, who knows why there hasn't been one in years. I'm game if someone wants to do all the planning, because I am very lazy.

I am nothing if not consistent. At least I've stopped projecting my laziness onto others. I find it's easier to get them to do things for you that way.

What's there to plan anyway? Don't we just pick a spot to drink and that's it?

I was up for the SF meet. No one made any definite plans so I didn't know if it was still a go or not.

So will I, in case the planning goes down in flames like recent attempts to plan a meet elsewhere.

I don't plan for us to meet at Applebee's.

Re: NYC Otter Meet

OK — how does June 27th sound?

I've finally found a place that would be a great time for all: the Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden in Queens.

It's outside, it has great beer on draft (Spaten, Pilsner Urquell, Stella Artois, Hoegaarden) great prices ($15 pitchers), a lot of seating, food (when the kitchen is open) and it is relatively easy to get to.

Yup. Next-to-last stop on the N and a short (<5 min) walk.

All of my friends were there 2 weeks ago (Day drinking with the Big Greek). They love it there. As long as the weather holds up so you can be outside. Otherwise it is a dumpy bar in Queens.

And pass up what the Daily News has re-assigned as the best diner in New York?
