Is the Term Caucasian No Longer Accepted?

I have been filling out many surveys and applications asking about race.

I know in years past I would pick "Caucasian" as my answer, but that no longer exists.

Now I am "White (non-Hispanic)"

Was there some shift or change that made Caucasian a derogatory term, or a shift to be more PC?

I am insulted unless people refer to me as American-American.

I always put down "other" because the Irish have traditionally been considered a separate race from Caucasians.

That's exactly what I do. I thought I was the only one. I write in Irish if there is a space. Nice.

"White (non-Hispanic)" sounds to me like Hispanics are trying to be White.

Have some pride people!

I realized we had gone too far when I was watching television with my daughter and she referred to a Bushman as an African-American African.

Actually, I am Caucasian. My ancestors are from the Caucasus mountain area of Europe.

As an aside to this, to they call people African-Britons or something similar in the UK? Or do they just not subscribe to this bullshit PC crap?

I have seen the same thing before. The PC police were on it probably. Not to be an ass, but how is it wrong to call a black person black, while you can call white people white?

I don't think they are as PC. They still call all Middle Eastern people "pakis".

I'm a cop, and while we do our best to be PC in most regards, I can assure you we still use the terms White and Black. Probably for brevity sake while broadcasting over the radio. Now there seems to be a split over whether our south of the border friends get called latin of hispanic.

I write-in "Cockasian" on my employment applications. I always get weird expressions from HR, though.

Cop here too (probably at an agency pretty close to you, actually). When I was in dispatch, one of the first questions I would ask when getting a description is "Is he white, black, or Hispanic?".

Interestingly enough, for Texas DL's, there is no difference between White-non-hispanic and white-white. Whether you're running Milifred Vandelhoffer or Juan Rodriguez, you're getting a "white" designation on both.
