That's very cool. I guess it depends on people's perception of invisibility. The animal is indistinguishable from its surroundings and thus invisible, but I was hoping for some kind of total light refraction/reflection rendering it transparent, i.e. Mr. Predator.

Octopii do that all the time.. I was just surprised it turned white to copy the sandy floor instead of dark red.

I must admit tho.. I thought I was looking at a stonefish at first since the video quality was teh suckekekeke.

Did anyone watch the video of the fish that swam up a man's penis that was linked to on the same page as the invisible octopus? I am going to have nightmares for the next month thanks to that video.

I clicked it because I don't have a peepee to worry about a fish swimming up.

I'm certificated scuba diver, I have seen many underwater species changes to match the background - yes, they can change color rapidly, but not 100% perfect matched to background like octopus did in the video. On the video, it looks like the person edited the video to make it completely "perfect" camoflauged.

The video is deceiving... not showing the seaweed after the octopus swims away from it. It makes it look like the Octopus WAS the whole clump, when in fact it was just a part of it... and the same color/similar pattern. The video isn't fake as it was shot by a well known authority on Octopi. There was an article in Either Pop Sci or Discover on this video.

Granted, the video is rather grainy and dark. And remember, the octopus was already camoflaged to the rock/seaweed... it's not as if it had to blend with that but instead the other way around.
