When it comes to American cheese, I am a racist and stick exclusively with white.

I don't really like American "cheese" in general, but I can't stand white at all

Same with me. I'll use provolone or sharp cheddar on a sandwich before yellow American.

Am I wrong or is white American cheese more of an east coast thing? Grew up on the stuff in Boston but haven't seen it once since moving to Washington state.

I voted for Yellow, but really I don't like either very much. Give me sharp cheddar.

I think Subway only serves white American cheese, that is along side their other choices.

Put me down for extra sharp cheddar.

I prefer nearly anything else (prov, swiss, etc), but if it comes to American, I'll take white any day. It's probably because my parents insisted that Yellow American cheese was "poor people cheese."

American cheese is terrible. The white cheese is a terrible excuse for provolone and the yellow is a terrible excuse for Muenster, or, if melted, Whiz.

Whiz wit or provolone.

Quoted for truth in that you put "cheese" in quotes... American cheese doesn't even taste like cheese, it tastes like plastic.

Normally i have several types of cheese in the fridge from local farmers. If i'm making an egg sandwich or an omelet though i like the good old fashioned yellow american slices. Never tried white.
