Where do you keep your bread?

I usually keep my bread in the fridge, but was thinking of switching to a bread box. What are the pros and con's of both?

My girlfiend keeps it in the fridge, too. I always put it in the cabinet. I had never heard of putting it in the fridge.

The fridge because I don't eat a loaf fast enough. If I stored it on the counter, it would grow hair.

You should redo the options, who actually has a breadbox these days?

I keep mine on top of the microwave.

You should put your bread in the microwave. It acts as a breadbox and actually keeps it from going stale much better than leaving it in the open air. I promise!

In the freezer. I bake bread, and it goes bad much faster than store-bought. So i slice it up and freeze it, and just reheat the slices when i need.

Yup, the freezer. It only takes about 15 minutes to defrost what I'll be using (in a small plastic bag), and it's just about as fresh as the day I bought it.

Me too also. I should probably try keeping it in the microwave though.. sounds like a reasonable idea.

Oh...and I actually have a bread box as well...its titled..'bread box'

Although the bread goes in the giant pantry now..and the bread box is now affectionately known as the 'medicine chest' (all sorts of drugs/pills/ other goodies)

Q: Anybody know why we don't have to defrost refrigerators anymore?

A: Because they're self defrosting.

Q: Anybody know how modern refrigerators self defrost?

A: By keeping the air inside drier than the sahara.

In the old days, people used to keep cigars in the fridge for the same reason people kept bread in them; because they were great humidifiers. Today's refrigerators however, with their self-defrosting engineering, have the exact opposite effect.

So those of you keeping your bread in the fridge, I laugh at you... I laugh! HA! [points and laughs]
