Please help settle a nerd-induced office dispute...

Can a light saber cut through adamantium? I vote yes, but it'd take a while.

No, it can't, Thor's hammer can only dent adamantium, and that's made of magical uru metal. Perhaps Yoda, with his elevated Midi-chlorian count could break it with the force, but only in his more powerful prequel incarnation.

The real question is: Could the fires of Mt. Doom melt adamantium?

I just asked comic legend John Byrne and he said "Adamantium as originally introduced, no. The diluted version it became -- I think plastic scissors can probably cut it!"

Yes it would.

But a better question would be "How will the Jedi Knight remove the claws from their chest if the light saber does not cut through Adamantium on the first swing?"

By definition, I thought nothing could cut through adamantium? Kinda like a diamond...you need more adamantium (or a diamond) to cut it?

reminds me of an argument I overheard about whether the Enterprise was bigger than a Star Destroyer. one guy was getting really mad and screamed, "The Enterprise is a Victory Class Starship! Gawd!"

If adamantium is so strong, how do you fashion it?

Actually, it's the Star Destroyer that's a Victory class ship. Gawd.

Like I said earlier, maybe the same way you fashion diamonds?

Heat it for about an hour at 110 degrees, and then inject it into your blood stream.

Diamonds can be crushed with a hammer or ruined with a match.
