The SPAM Game!

ok.. Im bored..
so here is my new game..
lets see who gets the most SPAM email over the weekend..
this works good for gmail users

everyone clear your spam folder at NOON est today.. Then dont touch it again until NOON est on monday.. we will see who accumulates the most spam in that amount of time.

No intentionally going out and trying to get spam.. No moving crap over there to intentionally make your number higher.. Just sit back and let the built in spam filter do its job (NO MANUAL MOVING AT ALL).

I've already got my own SPAM game going - I decided back on December 14th that I wouldn't empty my SPAM folder until it hit 10000 items. It's now got 7255 in it.

That's my work email - I guess I could do this with my home email, where I get a whole bunch more.

as I mentioned.. this probably works best for gmail users

probably not worth it to include HOTMAIL users.. since hotmail is nothing but a spam network

Okay . . . what about people that get to "teach" their SPAM filters? If the filter misses something that it should be picking up, do you get to add it to the filter (which, in the case of my email, also moves it to the "Junk" folder)?

Also, what about moving out emails that shouldn't have been filtered but accidentally were?

Can I play?
I'm in charge of several domains on our email server.
On a typical day, with use of our spam filters and forwarding
spam to a dummy account, I get about 8000 messages.
On a really really good day, it'll go over 10,000 messages.
Fun stuff, this spam!

My spam problem from last time has been fixed.

Yahoo is at 490. Gmail is at 1 (which is still more than usual). I try to keep gmail very clean.

Okay . . . I topped out at 57 as of Noon today.

I'm very disappointed in my performance.

I have one e-mail address that I've killed that got a lot of spam. Every now and then I'll reopen the account to see how much spam still comes to it ... and it's a LOT. I can run it for 24 hours and see how much comes through.
